Aria school as a case of implicite religion
Slačálková Otterová, Mariana ; Vojtíšek, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Hošek, Pavel (referee)
In this bachelor thesis, I have used the case of Ario school (1992-2014, with successor group which still exists) to show that a group, which does not understand itself as a religious one, can have implicit religious elements. The thesis is based on interviews with twenty-two interviewees, who have been engaged in this organization at various times of its existence, divided into three groups: the renegades, former members who left the organization without conflict and men and women who are still members of the (successor) organization. There are no academic or other texts on Ario school thus the first part of this thesis introduces this organization and reconstructs its history. The second part of the thesis analyzes specific phenomena, which can be looked at from the religious point of view. The analysis is based on the concept introduced by Ninian Smart, which he introduced in his Dimensions of the Sacred, where he defined seven dimensions of the sacred: ritual, doctrinal, narrative, ethical, emotional, social, and material. The group had many aspects of new religious movement, especially because of the role of its leading figure.

The Concept of Nature by Francis of Assisi
Junová, Rut ; Hošek, Pavel (advisor) ; Hájek, Matěj (referee)
This bachelor's thesis deals with the concept of nature by Francis of Assisi. This work is divided into two chapters. The first one discusses the franciscan writings dealing with the nature in general, it analyses its rigours, afterwards introduces the key events of Francis' life. The second chapter is more komplex and focuses on the concept of nature in concrete franciscan writings. They are recognized as The Writings about St. Francis and The Writings of St. Francis. The first group consists of three biographies (Vita prima, Vita secunda, Legenda Maior) and one collection of legends about Francis (Little flowers). The second group includes Francis' letters, monastic rule, prayers and praises, among which Canticle of the Creatures stands out. The analyses of particular writings focused on their historical context and the comparison of writings crystallize the particular perspectives of Francis's concept of nature, especially the most outstanding view of nature as God's good creation. Comparison of Hans Kung and his work Global Ethics with the Civil Religion
Knotek, Daniel ; Hošek, Pavel (advisor) ; Hajko, Dalimír (referee)
This Diploma Thesis deals with two universalistic conceptions, represented by the Swiss Catholic Theologist Hans Küng and his work Global Ethics, and the Civil Religion. In the first part of my text, I bring in the personality of Hans Küng, his work, ideas and the book Global Ethics which received great acclaim on international forum, Churches and society. Küng draws up three basic theses: No world peace without peace among religions. No peace among religions without dialogue between the religions. No dialogue between the religions without accurate knowledge of one another. These theses express the need for a dialogue, being able to formulate viable visions of the future. In the second part of my work, I introduce a less known notion of the Civil Religion with its transformations and development throughout the history. It is a concept exceeding the border of sociology, political science, philosophy and theology, examining the formative processes of the society and its religious reference speech. It penetrates the academic discourse especially in the period between the 1960s and 1980s, as represented e.g. by the American sociologist Robert Bellah. In the third part of my text, I compare both the universalistic conceptions and try to find out where they intersect and in which respect each of them has...
Al-Andalus and Mozarabs
Jun, Tomáš ; Hošek, Pavel (advisor) ; Heryán, Ladislav (referee)
In my thesis I deal with the question whether we can consider the social system of al-Andalus as religiously tolerant. I represent al-Andalus, the Iberian state, dominated by Muslims of Arab and Berber origin between 711-1492. I focus on the reign of the Umayyad dynasty from the 8th to 10th century called "Golden Age". I want to show on Mozarabes ("arabized Christians"), that the present view of tolerance in al-Andalus is distorted by its own history of myth. I also deal with reference to al-Andalus in the present, both among Christians and Muslims. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
