The Czech public's views on foreign nationals - March 2018

In March 2018 Public Opinion Research Centre included a block of questions connected to foreigners. Respondents commented on foreigners who live in the Czech Republic and in their place of residence. Research also included set of questions about general attitudes connected to foreigners such as their impact on Czech culture, unemployment, health ricks and economy. Respondents also evaluated whether foreigners are the solution of problem of ageing population in the Czech Republic.

Self-tracking and running: a sociological analysis

This thesis focuses on self-tracking, which mean monitoring and recording information about oneself using digital technologies and its use by runners in the Czech Republic. The main aim of this thesis is to describe the Czech running community through a detailed sociological analysis, and to answer a question: Why runners use self-tracking and how they benefit from it? The theoretical part firstly deals with the topic of self-tracking itself, then examines the uses and gratifications theory and the theory of online communities. The analytical part is devoted to description, analysis and interpretation of the results of the author's own survey, in which 844 runners of whom 754 practice self-tracking participated. Several hypotheses concerning sociodemographic structure, running characteristics, motivation, gratifications and safety were formulated. Five key motives (self-control, orientation to result, self-improvement, habit and social interaction) that lead runners to use self-tracking devices were identified through exploratory factor analysis. The motives vary based on gender and running characteristics (experience with running, runner's level, frequency of running, trainer) that also represent the main influencing factor for self-tracking in general. In December 2017 Public Opinion Research Centre included a block of questions related to health care system in its regular survey. Citizens were asked about their overall satisfaction with health care system in the Czech Republic as well as their views on the various problematic areas of healthcare, such as the financing of public health, management of drugs and functioning of insurance companies.

Czech Public's Attitudes to Foreign Countries - October 2017

In October survey CVVM investigated how sympathetic or unsympathetic are some selected countries to the Czech public. In this survey 27 countries were selected. The most sympathetic country among them according to Czech citizens is Slovakia followed by Sweden, Austria, Norway, Great Britain, France and Italy.
Taxation in view of public opinion – October 2017

According to October 2017 survey of the Public Opinion Research Centre 14% of citizens regard taxation on high-income earners as high, 28% say it is adequate and 46% think it is low. Taxation on average-income earners is considered to be high by 43% of respondents, adequate by 45% and low by 3% of citizens. Taxation on low-income earners was supposed to be high by 63%, adequate by 24% and low by 3%. 57% of respondents think that tax rate should be higher for high-income earners than for low-income earners.
