Regional variants of German in the work of Christine Nöstlinger
Leová, Yen Nhi ; Zeman, Dalibor (advisor) ; Kafka, Clemens (referee)
This bachelor's thesis analyzes a linguistic phenomenon known as "austriacisms" and its use in Austrian German. The thesis is divided into two main parts: the theoretical and the analytical. The theoretical part analyzes different language varieties and their occurrence in the Austrian context. This includes terms such as "variety," "dialect," and "colloquial language," as well as specific characteristics of the German language in Austria, including austriacisms. This part serves as a basis for understanding the linguistic phenomena analyzed in the practical part. The analytical part then examines austriacisms in "Konrad oder das Kind aus der Konservenbüchse" by Christine Nöstlinger. This part identifies and analyses these linguistic phenomena and examines whether they are recognized and used by people in the age groups 10-13 years and 14-17 years. The results confirm the hypothesis that these expressions are generally recognized and commonly used in current communication.

The thesis initially defines the specialized terms in the context of variation linguistics, with diatopic and diastratic varieties playing an important role. Subsequently, the features of youth language are presented, with an emphasis on linguistic and stylistic markers. The results show that both "Bravo" and "Cool" include Anglicisms. The investigation reveals that the use of lexical neologisms in "Bravo" is not significantly more frequent than in "Cool". It appears that both magazines occasionally employ such neologisms to make their texts more interesting and appealing, but they may not be as prominent as other stylistic features and linguistic aspects.
