Selected literary works of Astrid Lindgren and its use in leisure education for reading

The aim of the thesis is to introduce the work of the author of books for children and young people Astrid Lindgren and the use of selected works in leisure education for reading. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. In the theoretical part a biography of the author is presented, her work set in the historical framework of literature for children and youth, analysis of selected literary works, preferred literary genre, developmental specifics of the target group of children and methods chosen for specific work with the text. The practical part deals with the creation of a literary project focused on the theme of help, its verification in practice and reflection

The Theme of Death in Selected Works of Scandinavian Literature for Children and Young Adults

The subject of this bachelor thesis is an analysis of the theme of death in the following works of Scandinavian literature: Astrid Lindgren - The Southern Meadow, The Brothers Lionheart, Tarjei Vesaas - The Ice Palace, Jostein Gaarder - Through a Glass, Darkly. Apart from interpreting each piece of work, this thesis briefly outlines the history of Norwegian and Swedish children's literature, a psychological perspective of the development of the relationship between a child and death, a broader outlook of children's literature featuring the theme of death from a philosophical, psychological, and historical standpoint and finally the pedagogic aspects of children's literature with emphasis on more demanding children's literature in relation to both subject and form. The thesis concludes by comparing the depictions of death in the individual works and underlining the common character of the selected works. Possibillity of christian interpretation of selected works of Astrid Lindgren

The goal of the theses is to interpret a selected work of A. Lindgren in a theological way. Methodology of the practical part is built on the broad context of early Christian inculturation (interpretation of ancient culture in the Patristic Tradition, introduced in the work of Hugo Rahner), and of the modern philosophical-theological interpretation of secular culture (interpretation of Don Juan in the work of Karel Vrána). The personality of the author A. Lindgren is then described, with emphasis on certain biographical facts which are particularly important for the goal of the theses. The work of German theologian Thomas Vogel is introduced in the Czech environment for the first time. Thomas Vogel is well-known for his Christian interpretations of A. Lindgren?s books. In the final part the author interprets the book Mio, My Son from christological, ecclesiological and eschatological point of view.
