Deferred tax in the consolidated financial statements at the transition from US GAAP to IFRS

This diploma thesis deals with the deferred tax issue in the context of changing the US GAAP accounting system to IFRS. First of all, it summarizes the theoretical approaches to recognition, measurement and reporting of deferred tax and examines the factors, which could affect its appearance in the individual and consolidated financial statements. Then this diploma thesis focuses on the comparison between the US GAAP and IFRS rules regarding deferred tax accounting. The output of this comparison is demonstrated in a form of analysis table pointing to the fundamental conceptual differences. Next part of the thesis presents the first IFRS adoption issue in relation to IFRS 1, where the effect of the first adoption on the presented deferred tax is accentuated. After all, the findings from the theoretical part of the diploma thesis are applied in the practical example of PJSC LUKOIL, which had to change US GAAP to IFRS in 2014 due to the new legislation requirement. This last part examines the differential attitudes of both accounting systems to deferred tax and presentation and significance of deferred tax at the first IFRS adoption.
Valuation and reporting of heritage assets

This thesis is focused on the issue of valuation and reporting heritage assets. At first, there is an effort to define the term heritage assets. Categorization of these items is based on World Heritage List, which is compiled by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The next part points to the relation between the cultural and economic concept of value, as well as the difference between these values and the price. The last part is devoted to the issue of accounting for heritage assets. Based on existing legislation and standardization, there is a summary of the options for the valuation and reporting heritage items.
Consolidated Financial Statements of a selected business corporation

The aim of this diploma thesis is to prepare the consolidated Balance Sheet and consolidated Profit and Loss Statement. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the way in which are the consolidated statements created, including the elimination of mutual relationships within the group. The practical part of the thesis is both focused on the calculations of the individual items which are essential for the preparation of consolidated statements and also its creation.

This diploma thesis is focused on the theoretical and practical issues connected with conversion of the consolidated financial statements prepared in accordance with Czech Accounting Standards to International Financial Reporting Standards. The thesis deals with adjusting items in the consolidated statements of the balance sheet and in the income statement. In addition, the thesis analyses items from individual balance sheets and income statements of the consolidated companies, in order to be able to set the consolidated statements based on IFRS.
Preparation of consolidated financial statements in accordance with US GAAP

This diploma thesis deals with the preparation of consolidated financial statements in accordance with the US GAAP. It briefly describes the development of the US GAAP and organizations working with the FASB. Afterward, it mentions the US GAAP and the IFRS key standards concerned with the consolidated financial statements. For appropriate recognition of the investment, it is necessary to determine conditions under which the entity controls another entity. This thesis focuses on full consolidation method and equity method. For better understanding of the area, practical examples are included. This thesis aims to define the general principles and rules applicable to the preparation of consolidated financial statements in accordance with the US GAAP and also to compare specific areas to the IFRS.

This master thesis deals with specifics of valuation, recognition and reporting of intangible assets that were acquired as a business combination under IFRS. This thesis is also devoted to specifics of intangible assets which indicate importance and difficulty of its standardization in accounting. The aim of the master thesis is to combine valuation and accounting standards for intangible assets with emphasis on acquisition process. Practical part is here to show how definitely companies valuate, measure and recognize intangible assets acquired in a business combination.
Financial analysis of Uhersky Ostroh based on the individual and consolidated financial data

The aim of this thesis is to perform a financial analysis of the city Uhersky Ostroh in the years 2012 to 2015 on the basis of individual and consolidated financial data. The work is divided into two parts, the theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part introduces the basic concepts and characteristics of the municipalities,define their nature and specifics, then we will deal with budgets and budget structure, financial analysis and also consolidation, basic concepts, procedures and methods. The theoretical part is followed by a practical part where is the financial analysis of Uhersky Ostroh,first on the basis of individual data and later on consolidated data. Finally, we compare the both of the analysis and evaluate the management of the city Uhersky Ostroh.
Analysis of possibility of Conceptual Framework IPSAS implementation to Czech accounting legislation

The main objective of this diploma thesis is to familiarize the readers with the Conceptual Framework relating to the International Public Sector Accounting Standards IPSAS. Introduction is dedicated to the public sector, its basic characteristics and its nature in general. For easier understanding of the issue is further discussed about international financial reporting systems; IFRS and US GAAP is mentioned primarily. The greatest scope is left to the main topic, to the Conceptual Framework IPSAS. The thesis discusses the basic principles and requirements for financial reporting of public sector entities which are regulated by Conceptual Framework IPSAS. Attention is also focused on comparison with the accounting system in the Czech Republic for the purpose of analyzing the possibilities of its implementation in Czech accounting legislation.
Vykázání neuznaných nehmotných aktiv v rozvaze: rizika a přínos

The aim of this thesis is to analyse the research area of omitted intangible assets from the balance sheet and consider rewards of their potential recognition in the statement of financial position. The theoretical part provides the reader with the current regulation in force and compares it to the regulation prior the standardization and convergence process. The empirical part focuses on valuation of equity of three companies from the pharmaceutical industry based on the model pursued by American professor Stephen Penman. The values obtained are subsequently compared to market prices which are believed to reflect also the possession of omitted intangible assets. Differences identified speak in favour of potential recognition, however these are believed to be marginal comparing to probable inherent risks, which include, inter alia, stock market run-ups and earnings management.
Reporting bonds according to the Czech accounting regulations and standards and IFRS

This bachelor thesis concerns the legal and economical adjustment of bonds, a bond analysis and the accounting and reporting of bonds for entrepreneurs according to the Czech accounting regulations and standards and IFRS. The theoretical part is explained using examples of discount bonds and coupon bonds. Subsequently, both systems are compared and the finding reveals that the biggest difference is in the distribution of interest. There the IFRS strictly require the use of the effective interest rate. Whereas, according to the Czech accounting regulations and standards, there is the anticipated use of the effective interest rate only for financial institutions and large corporations. Entrepreneurs usually use particularly linear distribution of interest for their needs.
