Sudíková, Alena ; Odehnalová, Jitka (advisor) ; Vlková, Ivana (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the different settings of the current social and political system in the Czech Republic and the People's Republic of China that affect the course of business negotiations between Czech and Chinese business negotiator. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part consists of two chapters and the practical part of three chapters. The first chapter is based on the secondary data which characterize how the Czech and Chinese business negotiator perceive a commercial negotiation and its progress. The second chapter describes the effect of setting the current social and political system in the Czech Republic and the People's Republic of China on the personality of Czech and Chinese business negotiators on the individual (my chosen) period of life (offspring, education, marriage, employment and the impact of the welfare system, health system and pension system on the personality of the Czech and Chinese business negotiators) and suitable topics for conversation and maybe a taboo conversation between Czech and Chinese business partner. The third chapter describes how my own research, which was based on qualitative data collection through a questionnaire survey, was performed. The fourth chapter describes the research results. In the fifth chapter I propose how to use new gained knowledge.
Chinese vs. Czech cultural specifics
Podhorecká, Denisa ; Odehnalová, Jitka (advisor) ; Vlková, Ivana (referee)
In today's world the flow of trade, which is flowing across borders, is still wider and deeper. This is why the importance of multinational companies is still growing. For the development of these corporations it is crucial to expand the clientele and establish new subsidiaries on untapped markets. This leads to a conflict of cultures that must be handled and we must gain the most benefits from it for our company. At the same time there is an increasing number of foreigners migrating to the Czech Republic for work. In my thesis, "The Chinese vs. Czech cultural specifics" I focused on one company operating on the Czech market as a distributor of Chinese products. In the company people from the Czech and Chinese culture encountered at one working place. My goal is to monitor the process of mutual adaptation of the Czechs and Chinese in the second culture and environment from two perspectives, the personal and corporate level. The secondary aim is also to find out what a trader needs to know before starting communication with the Chinese business partner. The result of this thesis can be used as a convenient source for further quantitative research. The knowledge gathered here includes valuable advice for traders, which is needed before cooperation with Chinese. Due to the great diversity of cultures and customs it is essential to become familiar with Chinese traditions and style of negotiating, what they consider to be positive, right or negative, which values they appreciate etc. before getting in touch with them.
The EU engagement in the international effort on ODA increasing
Vlková, Ivana ; Konečný, Čestmír (advisor) ; Adamcová, Lenka (referee) ; Varadzin, František (referee) ; Sedláček, Petr (referee)
The purpose of this thesis is to analyse in depth the EU position in the international effort to increase the Official Development Assistance with respect to the situation of poverty in developing world and current initiatives on searching for potential solutions of this crucial issue. In connection with poverty traps in developing countries the EU came up with many important initiatives in the field of international development policy, which indicates a strong commitment of Member states towards the poverty eradication. Based on predictions analysed in the 3rd Chapter of this thesis, it is possible to deduce that the EU as a whole will be able to reach its targets in the area of ODA increases. However, there will be a different situation in case of individual Member states - not all of them report about appropriate ODA increases needed for reaching the individual declared targets. There are many more or less suitable solutions: new allocations of additional financial resources from donors` public budgets to the ODA purposes, debt relief, innovative financial resources or methodological changes in the ODA statistical reporting. In any case, it is always needed to pay attention to the principles of effectiveness and raising the ODA quality and impact. The potential for reaching the official targets was, is and will be affected by plenty of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats on the side of the EU, developing countries and the whole international community.
V závěru hodnotím přínos Deklarace, její pozitiva a slabá místa. V souvislosti s rozvojovou politikou obecně navrhuji řešení k větší efektivitě pomoci.
