Y. I. Zamyatin's novel We and its reception in Western literature

This bachelor's thesis describes Zamyatin's novel We and its influence on Western literature. The theoretical part of this thesis further defines the genre of dystopian fiction and examines its main features, introduces the author, his life and the historical and social contexts of this novel. It also delves into the specifics of other literary works that have been strongly inspired by We. The practical part deals with the literary analysis of the novel and compares it to various other influential dystopian fiction works of the 20th century, from both the thematic and linguistic point of view. The goal of this thesis is to show the timelessness of Zamyatin's novel, emphasize his legacy for the future generations and find similarities or differences in the interpretation of totalitarian regimes in Eastern and Western literature. The bachelor's thesis aims to compare choice characters from Russian and Czech folk fairy tales. The theoretical part is dedicated to oral tradition, it defines fairy tale as one of the fundamental genres of oral tradition and studies its main characteristics. It explains the content and also the form of fairy tales and considers its cultural and social background. The practical part's goal is to compare specific characters from Czech and Russian stories and to describe their signature traits and tropes. Evangelical motives within F. M. Dostoevsky's novel The Brothers Karamazov are the topic of the bachelor thesis. The theoretical part will be dedicated to analysis of spiritual streams, which have influenced political, social and cultural development in Russia in the 19th century. Then a research of relationship of Dostoevsky to Christianity and Orthodox Church will follow. In the practical part, the influence of gospel on formal and ideological aspect of the novel will be analyzed and the form and rate of the influence, which occurred in the novel, will be examined. The main emphasis will be put on a description of usage of the used motives of biblical parables (particularly The Parable of the Sower). The Cultrure of the Assembly of the Russian Nobility and its image in 19th century Russian literature

The subject matter of the present paper is the culture of the Russian nobility and its image in the 19th century Russian literature. The aim of the thesis is to study the issue of the closeness of the nobility to the Russian nation's culture. The theoretical part of the paper deals with the history of the nobility: its formation, advancement and prosperity. The concepts of «culture», «Russian culture» and their constituents are explored in the thesis next. This part is aimed at analyzing the main elements of the noble class' culture. A philological analysis of the two 19th century literary works, namely «Eugene Onegin» by A.S. Pushkin and «War and Peace» by L.N. Tolstoy, is conducted in the third chapter to identify the elements of the nobility's culture. After the spheres of culture have been established they were analyzed, namely the relation between the upper class' culture and the culture of the whole Russian nation; education and upbringing; everyday culture; life conditions; matters of marriage, family, love and relationships; leisure and social life; the notion of the manor as the center of the countryside culture. Hlavním cílem této bakalářské práce je srovnání lágrové tvorby dvou ruských autorek J. Ginzburgové a I. Ratušinské. Bakalářská práce se nejprve stručně zaměří na nejvýznamnější představitele ruské lágrové tvorby a poté bude velká část práce věnována dílům Strmá cesta (Крутой маршрут ) a Šedá je barva naděje (Серый - цвет надежды). Folklore Texts in Russian Language Teaching

The thesis focuses on the use of folklore texts in Russian language textbooks intended for Czech learners. Selected textbooks were chosen to be analysed. The first part of the thesis is dedicated to the summary of theoretical findings in the field of folklore and relationship between language, culture and oral tradition. Theoretical part explains the term folklore as a part of discipline that deals with folklore studies. The term is elaborated on and presented in relationship with language, culture and oral tradition. Practical part informs about the results of analysis of the didactic files with its aim to find methods of folklore texts application.
