Mapping nursing care issues from the perspective of nurses in patients with symptoms of aggression due to substance withdrawal in selected metabolic intensive care units
Kousalová, Hedvika ; Trnková, Ivana (advisor) ; Těšínský, Pavel (referee)
The thesis deals with the issue of nursing care in patients with manifestations of aggression due to substance withdrawal syndrome in metabolic intensive care units. A questionnaire survey was carried out among general nurses, paramedics, and nurse practitioners. Three sub-objectives were established: to identify the most frequently utilized nursing interventions related to the studied issue, to assess the perceived psychological and physical burdens on healthcare staff, and to gauge their interest in further education on this matter. The theoretical background of the thesis deals with definitions of substance use, types of substance abuse, withdrawal syndrome and specifics of nursing care for patients with manifestations of aggression, including education and legal aspects of the use of restraints in health care settings. To collect data for the research part, anonymous non-standardized questionnaires (see appendix) were used for general nurses and nurse practitioners working in metabolic intensive care units in selected university hospitals in Prague. The thesis concludes with a summary of recommendations for nursing practice in the area of nursing care of patients with manifestations of aggression after withdrawal from addictive substances based on a comparison of the results of the research...
Scoring system for sputum evaluation assessing specificity and sensitivity
Fidra, Dominika ; Trnková, Ivana (advisor) ; Maláska, Jan (referee)
The aim of this diploma thesis is to create a scoring system in sputum evaluation for general nurses in the intensive care unit. It is conceived as a diagnostic study that assesses the ability of the scoring system to accurately determine the ongoing condition - an infectious inflammatory disease. The collected biological material was compared with the gold standard - microbiology, by two independent persons. The result of the diagnostic study is a verified scoring system, where the color, consistency, admixtures and odor of the biological material of sputum are described for individual point evaluations. The main parameters of the diagnostic test - sensitivity, specificity and predictive value (positive and negative) - were used to verify the scoring system. For normal and pathological values, cut-off values were determined, according to which the value of sensitivity and specificity changed. By plotting the values on a graph and creating a ROC curve, it was found that with a cut off value of 1 and 2 for the first evaluator, the resulting area under the curve (AUC)=0.75. The result represents the scoring system according to the first evaluator as a good and effective test. The research was carried out at the anesthesiology and resuscitation clinic at the University Hospital of Kralovske Vinohrady...
Nurse's specific role in communicating with family members in intensive care - supporting loved ones and relatives
Kolníková, Daniela ; Trnková, Ivana (advisor) ; Sekorová, Jitka (referee)
The purpose of the thesis was to map the conditions and barriers of nurses in communicating with relatives and survivors of patients hospitalized in intensive care units and intensive care units with the aim of creating a manual on the principles of proper communication between nurses and patient relatives, which will be of practical use in the daily practice of nurses. It will be applicable in all types of hospital wards. However, we anticipate that it will be of greatest benefit to nurses in intensive care units. For the purpose of the work, we have chosen the method of quantitative research conducted in the form of a non-standardized electronic questionnaire of our own design. We identified the communication situations that nurses subjectively perceived as the most stressful. These are mainly situations closely related to the patient's irreversible condition or death. This finding led us to give increased attention in the handbook to the experience of grieving relatives and the approach to them. We also concluded that the level of concern nurses have about communicating with a patient's relatives decreases in direct proportion to the increasing age of nurses and the associated length of experience in the field. In view of these findings, we recommend that the handbook be designed primarily for...
Communication with a patient in critical care
Cejnarová, Anna ; Zvoníčková, Marie (advisor) ; Trnková, Ivana (referee)
The bachelor's thesis focuses on communication with a patient in the resuscitation department to determine whether the caring nurse and other medical staff (doctor, paramedic, etc.) communicate with the unconscious patient and identify the situations in which communication occurs most often. The theoretical part is divided into 3 chapters, the individual chapters explain what communication is, what are its functions, individual components, and forms. Furthermore, the theoretical part describes communication in nursing care and intensive care, their specifics, and other options. The practical research part was performed as a probe using an ethnographic approach. As part of that, with the help of participatory observation, I monitored communication between members of the medical team and the unconscious patient. At the same time, I detected whether there is also communication between the nurse and individual members of the medical team who come into contact with the unconscious patient. I conducted the research in a three- member team for five consecutive days. The days were divided into three sections - morning section 7:00 - 12:00, afternoon section 12:00 - 17:00, evening section 17:00 - 21:00. My time intervals during which I performed the probe were as follows: research - Monday 12:00 - 17:00,...
Informační systém pro velkoobchod
Trnková, Ivana
The aim of this thesis is the analysis, design and implementation of an information system for a wholesale. It focuses on warehouse management and optimization of selected business processes. Hence, processes, which need to be optimized, are identified based on the analysis of the company and its internal functioning. After the data collection and the analysis of the requirements is the information system designed and then implemented in the form of a website application and then it is continuously tested by the automated and the user tests. Later this thesis describes the process of passing down of this system to the client and its impact on the selected company's processes.
Activities of a registered nurse at intensive care unit
Salomonová, Kateřina ; Zvoníčková, Marie (advisor) ; Trnková, Ivana (referee)
This bachelor thesis is focused on the nurse's activities by the bedside at the intensive care unit, which she performs during the afternoon hours. The theoretical part is divided into several chapters and deals mainly with the importance of intensive care unit, education of nurses working in this field and their job description. In addition, this section describes the KAR FNKV workplace and the work organization specifically at the Resuscitation Department II where the research was conducted. In the empirical part I devoted to the analysis of the activities that the nurse performs on the ICU. Apart from the list of these activities and their detailed description, the thesis deals with their time demands. In a separate chapter, the research method of observation is defined, and the importance of nursing psychohygiene and ways in which it can be performed are emphasized. The study shows that most of the time it takes nurses to communicate with each other, with a doctor, other health care workers, with a family, or with patient when his condition allows it. Another time consuming interventions was monitoring of the patient and medication.
