Foreign language as a communication barrier in intensive care

This diploma thesis analyzes if there is communication barrier with foreign patients at the selected intensive care units. We dealt with question whether hospital employees perceive communication with foreigners as a problem or not and how can they solve the problem. The first (theoretical) part is devoted to the role of communication in nursing process and to the definition of term communication barrier. In next chapters we have analyzed the profile of multicultural nursing. Then we focus on the issues of cross-cultural communication and communication barriers in contact with foreigners and the most common causes and techniques used to deal with such situations. We pay great attention to prevention and potential solutions to barriers between cultures and ethnic groups. The motivation for the thesis was supposed effecto of communication gaps on health and higher psychological burden on staff, especially when one of the basic activities of nurses is to educate patients. Research interprets the information obtained from a self-designed questionnaire survey. Questionnaires were distributed to intensive care and resuscitation units in four hospitals in Prague. Management of the nursing care quality

The aim of the study was to determine what proportion of nurses on the continuous improvement of quality of nursing care in a medical facility IKEM. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part deals with the quality of health care and how you can control. A separate section is devoted to system models, the quality and the quality of nursing care. The empirical part discusses nurses' opinions of continuous quality improvement. The method used to implement the survey questionnaires were our own design. Research sample consisted of 84 nurses' hospital IKEM. The exploratory survey showed that nurses participating in the process of continuous quality improvement, well aware of the importance and benefits of standardization of nursing care. Have feedback on the quality of care provided, which can enable them further improvement. Nurses in the hospital IKEM are interested in the issue of continuous quality improvement. For the future it is important to involve the largest possible number of nurses in the process of continuous quality improvement. Only then can we achieve improvement of nursing care. Public participation in preventive examinations

Theoretical part is divided to three chapters. In first chapter is author describing used nomenclature, health determinants, impact of lifestyle. In second chapter is analyzed status of preventive examinations in medical care, third chapter is aimed for oncology prevention. Practical part represents quantitative research, for which method of questionnaires was used. Examined sample contains 30 women and 30 mens. Gathered informations are presented using graphical illustrations, sometimes including graphs by demographical values. Goal of thesis was to find out, how well is public informed about preventive examination options and if is public interested in them at all.
Life with dialysis

Diploma thesis is about hemodialysed patient and their probléme in chosen hemodialysis centres. The thesis is devided into theoretical and empirical part. In theoretical part I tried in singles chapters introduce readers with all neccessary information concerning the problematic the life with dialysis. The goal of diploma thesis was to insight into problematic of hemodialylised patients and redound to the better understanding their life with this machine. Based on the theoretical part, defined goals and hypothesi I set up quastionaire. Thanks to answears of hemodialysed patiens I tried to execute defined goals. The whole research proposes provide deeper knowledges of this topic.
