Konopásková, Jana ; Bernard, Josef (advisor) ; Stupková, Vlasta (referee) This thesis explores the topic of adolescence and employment of mentally disabled young people. The theoretical section summarizes the knowledge on the topic and also introduces the methology of transition programme in the nonFgovernmental organization Rytmus. The core of the paper rests in the analytical section which deals with the findings of a topical research project focused on parents of mentally disabled young people. The goal of this project was to describe, how the parents deal with their children's transition from school to adult life and what are their most acute fears in this period. In addition to this, it aimed to find out, if the transition programme was at all helpful. The whole analytical section is interwoven with a continual comparison of two groups of respondents F parents of children who have participated in the transition programme and parents of children who have not. This comparison helps me to find out what is the role of transition programme in parent' s lives. The analysis of discussed problem is divided into four thematic blocks: School, Transition period, Employment, The role of transition programme.
