The theoretic part of the thesis deals with communication in general, it defines words: old age, senior, aging, it acquaints with the specifics of communication with seniors. Special attention is paid to the communication with seniors with sensory and cognitive disorders. The empiric part of the thesis is comprised of the quantitative research focused on the detection and analysis of the barriers to communication with hospitalized seniors. The research took place in Rehamedica Žacléř, a. s., the medical facility for the long-term nursing care, and in Oblastní nemocnice Trutnov, a. s.
