Ethical dilemmas of social services for the elderly
PEKÁRKOVÁ, Lenka
In the introductory part, the diploma thesis deals with the description of the concept of old age and the basic physical and psychological changes that accompany this period. In the next part of the work, the term social worker and the legislative anchoring of social work in the Czech Republic are characterized. In the third part, the diploma thesis describes in detail terms such as ethics, ethical conduct, professional ethics, ethical code, ethical dilemmas and supervision. The next chapter, based on a written questionnaire and a subsequent interview, describes a view of the ethical dilemmas of six women workers in social services. Furthermore, from an ethical point of view, this chapter describes and analyzes problematic situations when working with the elderly, which social service workers formulated as ethical dilemmas. This part of the thesis is followed by another chapter, in which an analysis of a selected dilemmatic situation is carried out and an insight into the solution of a specific dilemmatic situation is provided using three ethical theories (deontology, utilitarianism and ethics of care).
Matrix calculus
Pekárková, Lenka ; Pražák, Dalibor (advisor) ; Milota, Jaroslav (referee)
Title: Matrix calculus Author: Lenka Pekárková Department: Department of Mathematical Analysis Supervisor: doc. RNDr. Dalibor Pražák, Ph.D., Department of Mathematical Analysis Abstract: This bachelor thesis deals with the exponential and logarithmic map, which are first defined and then their properties are proven. The exponential is considered on operators on Banach spaces in the text and its derivative, the differential equations which it solves and the formulae for the exponential of the sum of operators or the inverse of the exponential of an operator are presented. A logarithm is defined on the space of finite square matrices and its existence and uniqueness are analysed. Further the thesis focuses on the principle branch of the logarithm and properties of this map such as commutativity, properties of spectrum and monotony or the formula for the principle branch of the logarithm of the inverse. The root of a matrix is mentioned in the context of the logarithm. Keywords: Exponential of an operator, logarithm of a matrix, principle branch of the logarithm

The next part of the thesis describes the concept of client, social worker and the possibilities of social work legislation in the Czech Republic. In the third part the thesis describes in detail the terms such as ethics, ethical behavior, professional ethics, ethical code and ethical dilemmas. The following chapter, based on a written questionnaire, describes the view of the ethical dilemmas of six female social workers. Furthermore, in this chapter, I present 13 selected dilemma situations that are based on the direct practice of female social workers. This part of the thesis is followed by another chapter, in which the analysis of the selected dilemma situation is carried out and a preview of the various ethical theories most frequently encountered in the literature. The ethical theories chosen are deontology, utilitarianism and ethics of care. The aim of this thesis was to describe the basic concepts of ethical dilemmas with which workers in social services can meet. The concrete practical solution of individual ethical situations by social service workers will enable a realistic view of solving ethical dilemmas in practice. The analysis of a particular selected dilemma situation will provide a view of solving this situation using the most important ethical approaches. Knowledge of these approaches can help social workers to make choices and choose the right ethical approach.

Human dignity in old age
PEKÁRKOVÁ, Lenka
The work is aimed on the concept of human dignity in terms of age. The first chapter is devoted to the basic definition of human dignity and human rights. I describe a certain views of human dignity and human rights. The second chapter is devoted to the perspectives of an age and changes in the old age, which are of great importance for the preservation of human dignity. An important part of an old age is a matter of dying, which is nowadays bound with a form of palliative care associated with the difficult ethical issue of euthanasia. The concluding part summarizes the problem of an old age that is not an easy life stage for everybody, and therefore it is important to try, in the term of the helping profession, to keep the human dignity of the old people if they do not meet it in their neighbourhood.
