Design of MV contactor for railway application
Pala, Lukáš ; Šimek, David (referee) ; Valenta, Jiří (advisor)
In the introduction a traction circuit is analyzed with different types of electric devices. The thesis describes power railway electric circuits, their loads and types of used contactors. Railway standards chapter summarizes requirements of standards for railway contactors. Follows literature focusing on power current switching and power switching devices design. Based on previous, a design procedure is developed for railway MV contactor in accordance with end-user and standards requirements. Thesis closes with pre-designing a railway contactor by calculating electrodynamic forces, heatflow and mechanical components.
A Sample ARC Detector Panel
Pala, Lukáš ; Valenta, Jiří (referee) ; Kadlec, Radim (advisor)
In the introduction an electric arcs creation in low voltage networks is discussed, followed by evaluation of verification measurements with AFDD. A serial arc generator is designed in accordance with easy manipulation and low maintenance requirements. Technological solution for safe fault simulation is described similarly as particular function sections of demonstration panel. Schematic diagrams of power and electronic circuits are attached.

Designing A Sample Panel Of Safety Electrical Equipment For Non-Industrial Use
Pala, Lukáš
Beside the most common miniature circuit breakers and RCDs, a protection equipment against arc-faults is widely spreading in recent years. Some manufacturers developed devices, which contain an Arc-fault Detection Devices (AFDD) and residual circuit breakers with overload protection (RCBO). This equipment protects against most common faults along with the arc-faults. This paper focuses on developing a display panel, where this unique technology can be presented to the wide public, using simulations of short circuit, ground connection and serial arc-fault applied on widely used protection switchgear. For enhanced exhibition, the panel will be equipped with an electronic-controlled lighting.
