Important natural sites in Mongolia

The bachelor thesis deals with natural sites in Mongolia that are historically, culturally or touristically significant. Many of these sites are considered sacred by the local people. This thesis relies in part on travelogues, travel magazines and is supplemented by a pictorial appendix. The aim of this thesis is to introduce the Mongolian landscape and specific sites, as well as to explain their importance from various aspects. A secondary aim of this thesis is to introduce the cultural and religious realities that often enhance the importance of the sites. Modern Mongolian Belletristic Language in the Novel The Shaman's Story by G. Ayurzana

Subject of this paper is a mongolian novel called The Shaman's Story wrote by G. Ayurzana. After an introduction of the history of modern mongolian literature and a short description of the autor's life comes the first chapter about the way the shamanism of Buryats is described in the novel. By comparing parts of the novel and secondary literature I am trying to find, whether and if yes, to what amount is the novel's description close to actual reality. In the next chapter is explained the author's writing style, the structure of the novel and its dynamics. The enclosure includes original and translated transcription of an e-mail corespondation with the author and a czech translation of most of the legends that appear in the novel.

The remnants of nestorian christianity in Inner Mongolia This thesis is focused on the tradition of nestorian christianity in Mongolia, especially in Inner Mongolia region. It summarizes available information about nestorian effect among the tribes of steppe until the 14th century and their influence on the tradition of these tribes. The thesis analysis nestorian situation at The Mongolian royal court during the biggest expansion of The Mongol Empire. The work furthermore also summarizes nestorian monuments and relics discovered within the area of Inner Mongolia where the Ongut tribe, known for their relation to christianity, settled.

Usage of proper names by Mongolian nomads from the viewpoint of cultural settings

V kultuře mongolských nomádů platí silná víra v sílu slova, v magickou moc vysloveného. Tato víra se promítá do každodenního života, a tak i do používání osobních jmen a vlastních jmen vůbec. Těžký život ve stepi v náročných přírodních podmínkách je příčinou mnoha obav o život, dobré zdraví a spokojené žití potomků. Od nejranějšího věku je život jedince ve stepi svázán s dodržováním mnoha tradic, ponaučení i zákazů, které mu mají v úspěšném žití napomáhat. Tradice a tabu, vážící se k vlastním osobním jménům jsou toho názorným příkladem. Slovní zásoba současných mongolských jmen navazuje na starou tradici a zvyky se jmény spojenými. Přestože osobní jména podléhala postupem času vlivu upřednostňování tibetštiny, sanskrtu a v multikulturním prostředí nomádů přejímala do svých tvarů i kořeny a sufixy jmen sousedních kultur, dochovalo se ve slovní zásobě mongolštiny mnoho jmen, v jejichž významu se odráží nejstarší představy o světě. Ta jsou doložitelná od nejstarších dob, z nichž se zachovaly písemné památky. Ve slovní zásobě mongolských osobních jmen se odráží způsob života a myšlení, obavy a hodnoty, které nomádská společnost uznávala, a lidé, žijící v Mongolsku kočovnickým způsobem života, stále ještě uznávají. - Galina Wood, 2015 Lahij, the Living Heritage of Azerbaijan This research explores the various aspects of identity pertaining to the traditional, bilin- gual mountainous community of Lahij. Azerbaijan is little known and its minorities are largely under-researched. Previous work done by Russian and Azerbaijani linguists described grammatical features of the Tat language, and SIL-led linguistic field surveys by J. Clifton addressed some sociolinguistic attitudes, yet the Tat people, particularly the Lahij people, remain unknown. This is the first time the Lahij community, which preserved a relict Southwest Iranian language and a unique culture, is a topic of inter-disciplinary research in English language. Resources such as Russian and Azeri literature and Western works dealing with related dis- ciplines and issues (historical, socio-linguistical, anthropological etc.) are discussed, aiming to reach a balanced and informed perspective. To present the nuances and dynamics of the emic (insider) versus etic (outsider) points of view, anthropological methods of participant observation, structured interview and narrative analysis are used. Some aspects of traditional folklore music in Mongolia and their influence on contemporary mongolian music

The aim of this B.A. thesis is traditional Mongolian folklore music and its comparison with contemporary Mongolian music based on genre characteristics and song lyrics. First of the main two chapters includes descriptions of particular musical forms, musical instruments and cultural frame of traditional Mongolian folklore music. Therefore it provides a brief overall view of traditional folklore musical production in Mongolia. Second chapter is focused on comparison of traditional and modern Mongolian music. It includes short introduction into the issue of contemporary musical production of Mongolia. Further content consists of examples and interpretation of five traditional and four modern song lyrics.

Foreign policy of the early Mongolian states

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá zahraniční politikou Mongolské říše za vlády Čingischána, pokouší se o její charakterizaci a shrnutí. Ucelený dobový dokument, jenž by zahraniční Čingischánovu politiku shrnoval, neexistuje. Přesto, že se o existenci této politiky nemůžeme přesvědčit písemným dokumentem, který by ji ukázal ve své celistvosti, tvrdím, že tato politika nicméně existovala, jak dokládám především ve třetí kapitole výčtem jejích jednotlivých projevů. Pokouším se ukázat, na jakých základech mongolská zahraniční politika za dob Čingischána fungovala, co je pro ni charakteristické, v čem navazovala na mongolskou tradici a v čem byla nová a originální. Práce se dělí na tři části. V první kapitole je chronologicky popsána historie Čingischánovy epochy, která umožňuje čtenáři přehledný vhled do mongolských dějin té doby. Kapitola nastiňuje vznik mongolského státu, růst Čingischánovy moci a jeho dobyvatelské úspěchy. V druhé kapitole se snažím ukázat konkrétní vztahy mezi okolním světem a Mongolskou říší. Především se jedná o Čingischanovo soupeření s říší Tinů v severní Čině, připojení Karakitanské západní Liao k Mongolské říši a vztahy Čingischána s Chórezmem a Tanguty. Ve třetí kapitole opouštím historické hledisko a podrobně se soustřeďuji na jednotlivé projevy a aspekty Čingischánovy zahraniční...

The Mongolian cinematography in years 1936-1991

Cílem této práce je popsat vznik a vývoj mongolské kinematografie od začátku 20. století do roku 1991. V první kapitole jsem rovněž stručně popsala vývoj mongolské kinematografie po rozpadu socialismu v roce 1990 a její nové cesty v hledání demokratické společnosti. Pokusila jsem se postihnout širší kulturní a etnografická východiska, jimiž se mongolský film inspiroval, včetně obrovského vlivu, který měla sovětská kinematografie na vznik a formování kinematografie mongolské. Ve druhé kapitole jsem představila současného významného mongolského režiséra, scénáristu a filmového vědce G. Džigdžidsiirena a jeho uměleckou tvorbu. Na základě sémantického rozboru vybraných mongolských vlastních osobních, místních a pomístních jmen zaznamenává práce nejdůležitější tématické okruhy, které se v mongolských vlastních jménech objevují. S přihlédnutím ke kontextu užívání vlastních jmen v komunikaci, způsobu pojmenovávání krajinných útvarů a osob, tradicím a tabu, které se k vlastním jménům váží, zachycuje některé projevy nazírání světa, hodnoty a tradiční představy o uspořádání světa mongolských nomádů.
