The Music Video Culture in the ČR in Recent Years

This bachelor thesis describes the development of the music video culture in the Čzech Republic, focusing on the period from 1989 to the present /2006/. A number of sources has been published concerning this sector which cambines visual materials and music. However, a material dedicated to this phenomenon has avided the Czech environment so far.

The FAMUFEST

Head topic of my theoretical thesis is FAMU Festival. I focused mainly on the history, conceptual, communication and business features of this sopecial event, educational aspects and future prospects. The main narrative-reflection part came from my own experience at the festival in 2005. I compiled historical overview of classes and the winners from centemporary materials, film annuals and theoretical materials package NFA.

State support systems of cinematography in EU - Spain versus CR

This thesis survey development of spanish cinematography from its origins untill presence, both from artistic aspect, and with regard to state influence and benefit. It details legislative steps and state support system of film sector. It creates complex survey of institutions, associations and organisations that are part of this system. The diploma work is based on comparison to development and status of czech cinematography. The outcome is to gain coherent vision of different case of both cinematographies after hundred years of development, to subtract advantages and disadvantages of established system and to outline near future.

Development from the point of view of the Czech indepent producer

This work is focusing on the development of feature film projects made by independent producers. It defines the development of movies in Czech and European area. The work itself is divided into sections to represent different parts of feature film development ? for example: works on screenplay, legal aspects, marketing and financing. Except all these aspects there are mentioned differences between the development in a studio system as opposite to the development made by independent producers. The work also tries to reflect history of the development in the Czech Republic with attention to recent history (studio system). In this work is also possible to find a subchapter which is dedicated to television development focusing on television series as a related genre to film development.

Video on Czech Internet

Bachelor's thesis "Video on Czech Internet" discusses the possibilities and the current state of the video distribution on Czech Internet. It describes and explains basic technologies through which the video is spread to viewers. It deals with presentation of video on the Internet from the perspective of the Czech law. It introduces Czech Internet projects engaged in Internet video. In greater detail, the thesis analyses present and derfunct online video rental stores (StarZone, Kinománia, TopFun, Videopůjčovna ČT and Doc Air), video portals that offer the viewers entertainment and news service (Stream, N-JOY, Boom TV, etc.). The thesis also analyses several projects of contemporary and emerging digital television stations focused on the online video: news tn.cz Nova television, Internet broadcasting of Czech Television, video portal ukazse.tv digital TV Barrandov and others.

The contemporary production of documentary film

I have started working on this topic because of my own interest. I wanted to know more about situation of documentary film industry in the Czech Republic,
The goal n.1 was to make a guide for young producers like me, who have the same question, how to make an author documentary film by own way of independent producer.
Thanks to all research, discussion with directors and producers, I have made an opinion which sounds optimistic.
Today we have really a lot of opportunities and just it depends on us where we will go.
At first there is a well working institute of documentary film in Prague, which makes a network with international markets and festivals. Also International documentary film festival in Jihlava is every year better and more professional and well known for its quality.
We can get many workshops and it offers important informations about worlds film festivals and markets through the Media programme.
From my point of view Czech television is a good source of financial support. Of course it is connected with many problems, but still it helps a lot. And last but not least there is a national fund of Czech Ministry of Culture which financially supports documentary film as well.
In conclusion I would like to say I am not worried about Czech documentary film. I can see just a challenge for producers looking for new talents, collaborating with IDF and helping directors who have good ideas and just dont know where and whom to offer their project.
