Electron Ion Recombination in Low Temperature Plasma
Dohnal, Petr ; Glosík, Juraj (advisor) ; Čurík, Roman (referee) ; Novotný, Oldřich (referee)
The presented work focuses on study of electron - positive ion recombination in low temperature plasma. The principal method used were Flowing afterglow with Langmuir probe and Stationary afterglow with Cavity Ring-Down Spectrometer. For the first time electron and neutral assisted collisional radiative recombination of Ar+ ions was studied in temperature range of 50 - 200 K. Resulting ternary recombination rate coefficients are in good agreement with theoretical predictions. Recombination of H3 + and D3 + ions with electrons was studied in the temperature range of 50 - 300 K and binary and ternary recombination rate coefficients were obtained. The effect of nuclear spin on recombination of H3 + ions with electrons was studied in the temperature range of 80 - 200 K and state selective recombination rate coefficients were obtained for ortho- and para-H3 + . Results show that at 80 K para-H3 + recombines with electrons substantially faster than ortho-H3 + .
Justification of ethical requirements of an employee in the concept of corporate social responsibility
Novotný, Oldřich ; Ovečka, Libor (advisor) ; Sládek, Karel (referee)
This work seeks to uphold the ethical relevance of the concept of CSR (corporate social responsibility - CSR), particularly with regard to employees as an important participant of the economic process, which the scope of the concept of CSR falls in. So first we will need to defend the importance and role of ethics in the economy in general, and then illustrate the relevance of ethical business conduct toward employees in the company's strategy, which will be based on the principle of the categorical imperative and the concept of natural rights of human as philosophical - ethical grounds. Then, at work, we will deal with a particular ethical claims stemming from philosophical - ethical defensibility of the concept, while the requirements for an employer to an employee will be critically reflected on the criteria of Christian social ethics. When instantiating the criteria of Christian social ethics will be based on the requirements of this discipline together with philosophical ethics and economic (business) ethics. The work will be based on the definition of the concept of CSR - It is a concept where a company voluntarily assume responsibility for the welfare and sustainable development of modern society, and is expected to remain competitive, and it is not two conflicting objectives. Employee as...
Anisotropie svrchního pláště pod Severními Apeninami z dat mezinárodního experimentu RETREAT (Itálie)
Munzarová, Helena ; Gallovič, František (advisor) ; Novotný, Oldřich (referee)
Title: Anisotropy of the upper mantle under the Northern Apennines based on data from the international experiment RETREAT (Italy) Author: Helena Munzarová Department: Department of Geophysics Supervisor of the master thesis: RNDr. František Gallovič, Ph.D. Department of Geophysics Consultant of the master thesis: RNDr. Jaroslava Plomerová, DrSc. Institute of Geophysics, Czech Academy of Sciences Abstract: In this master thesis, we process data recorded during the passive seismic experiment RETREAT (2003-2006) in the Northern Apennines with the aim to explore the upper mantle structure in the region. Active orogeny in the Northern Apennines relates to the collision of the Tyrrhenian and Adriatic (subducting westward) plates and is accompanied by an eastward retreat of the trench. Directional dependences of P-wave travel-time deviations together with variations of the fast split polarization azimuths of teleseismic SKS waves are derived from data recorded during experiment RETREAT. Both the fossil anisotropic structure in the mantle lithosphere and the anisotropy due to the present-day flow in the sub-lithospheric mantle are sources of the observed velocity-anisotropy patterns. Thick continental Adriatic plate can be divided into at least two sub-regions with their own fossil fabrics. We have also tried to...
Study of H3+ recombination in selected quantum states
Varju, Jozef ; Glosík, Juraj (advisor) ; Votava, Ondřej (referee) ; Novotný, Oldřich (referee)
Title: Study of H3 + recombination in selected quantum states Author: Jozef Varju Department : Department of Surface and Plasma Science Supervisor of the doctoral thesis: Prof. RNDr. Juraj Glosík, DrSc., Department of Surface and Plasma Science Abstract: In this work measurement of the effective recombination rate coefficient of H3 + dominated and recombination governed afterglow plasma at 77 K and 145 K are presented. Population of para-H3 + in the studied plasma has been varied by using para enriched H2 as a precursor along with normal H2. Time resolved NIR-CRDS was used to in-situ measure the number density evolution of the two lowest rotational states of H3 + . Measurements at different para to ortho H3 + ratios, at otherwise identical conditions, allowed for extrapolation of the effective recombination rate coefficient of pure para-H3 + and ortho-H3 + . From measured dependences on the buffer gas densities the values of the recombination rate coefficients for the binary and ternary channel are determined of para-H3 + and ortho-H3 + . Keywords: recombination, spectroscopy, H3 + , para H2
Application and interpretation of seismic surface waves in broad frequency range
Gaždová, Renata ; Vilhelm, Jan (advisor) ; Novotný, Oldřich (referee) ; Holub, Karel (referee)
Submitted Ph.D. thesis is concerning the application and interpretation of seismic surface waves in a broad range of frequencies and scales. Using surface waves as a supplement to the methods dealing with body waves seems to be worth the effort. Surface wave interpretation can be used to obtain new information about the studied medium and simultaneously it can overcome, in some cases, the limitations of other seismic techniques. Moreover, surface waves are usually present on measured records and hence for its usage it is not necessary to modify the standard measuring procedures. One of the results of this thesis is an original algorithm for dispersive waveform calculation. The program works in an arbitrary range of frequencies and scales. The input parameter for the calculation is the dispersion curve. In this point the algorithm differs from all other approaches used so far. Algorithm is based on a summation of frequency components with shifts corresponding to the velocity dispersion and distance. The resulting waveform only contains an individual dispersive wave of the selected mode, thus being particularly suitable for testing of methodologies for dispersive wave analysis. The algorithm was implemented into the program DISECA. Furthermore, a new procedure was designed to calculate the dispersion...
Tidal phenomena in groundwater hydraulics
Ondovčin, Tomáš ; Mls, Jiří (advisor) ; Šembera, Jan (referee) ; Novotný, Oldřich (referee)
Manifestations of the tidal force have been known to humanity since an- tiquity. The oldest extant remarks on the origin of the tidal force are in the Natural History of Pliny the Elder. He also left us remarks on periodic changes of water-level in wells. This phenomenon does not necessarily have to be connected to the proximity of seas. As such, it is a subject of research since the end of 19th century. Exploring the mechanisms with which the tidal force affects the groundwater level requires combining the findings of geology and hydrogeology but also the knowledge of hydraulics and geomechanics of porous media and certain understanding of astronomy. This thesis contribu- tes to the knowledge of the mechanism of tidal oscillations in groundwater measured in a borehole near Teplice nad Metují in Police Basin. It utilizes models based on the knowledge of geological and hydrogeological structure of the surroundings of the borehole. It investigates the relation between the physical properties of porous media and the amplitude and phase of the tidal oscillations and presents solutions of the models.
