The importance of LATCH score in promoting effective breastfeeding
MATĚJKOVÁ, Radka
The LATCH score is a breastfeeding mapping system that supports effective breastfeeding, and it is used to predict the duration of exclusive breastfeeding at six weeks after delivery. Assessments, which begin in the delivery room and continue until the mother and newborn are discharged, are essential. The LATCH system serves as a systematic collection of information about breastfeeding. The rating scale assigns 0, 1 or 2 points to five key areas of breastfeeding. Every letter of the LATCH acronym indicates an area of assessment. With the LATCH scoring system the pediatric nurse can assess maternal and newborn variables, and can easily define areas for intervention and prioritize nursing care at maternity hospital. Our first goal was to reveal the importance of the LATCH score in promoting effective breastfeeding. The second goal was to reveal in which areas of breastfeeding techniques mothers most often make mistakes. The third aim was to describe in which areas of LATCH mothers need more education. And the last goal was to find out what are the specifics of nursing care for mothers and newborns with a low LATCH score. The practical part of the bachelor's thesis was processed using the method of qualitative research using direct observation and the method of questioning through a semi-structured interview. The research group consisted of ten mothers who, during the research period, were hospitalized after delivery in the department for physiological newborns. Mothers were directly observed during breastfeeding on the day after delivery and upon discharge from the hospital. LATCH scores were evaluated during observation. For mothers with a low LATCH score on the first day after delivery, the interventions provided to the mothers were further qualitatively evaluated and their effectiveness verified by the LATCH value at discharge. These mothers were contacted again in sixth week of the child's age, and through a short interview we verified, whether the mothers were still breastfeeding, what problems they had and what was the reason for stopping breastfeeding. The obtained data were qualitatively analyzed with the ATLAS.ti program. Based on the research investigation and the obtained analyzed data, it follows that the LATCH score is important in promoting effective breastfeeding. Nowadays, more and more women want to breastfeed as long as possible. During the analysis of the obtained data, we established three categories. The first category deals with the evaluation of the LATCH score at the first feeding after birth, here it is captured what affects breastfeeding in the first hours after birth by the mother, the newborn and the child's nurse. In the second category, we deal with the most common problems during breastfeeding and their solution by a pediatric nurse. The most common obstacle was the mutual position of the mother and the newborn and the correct latching and sucking of the newborn. The psychological and physical comfort of the mother is also closely related to breastfeeding. Nursing staff, i.e. children's nurses, educate the mother more in LATCH areas, where points are removed, and their goal is for the newborn to leave the maternity ward fully breastfed and for the mother to know everything about breastfeeding in the home environment. The last category is the progress of breastfeeding after six weeks after giving birth. We are interested in whether the mothers are still fully breastfeeding and whether they have had any complications. The results show that the LATCH score is a quick and simple tool for assessing breastfeeding after delivery, during hospitalization and before discharge. This breastfeeding assessment method serves pediatric nurses to effectively evaluate mother and newborn variables, define areas where intervention is needed and determine priorities in the provision of nursing care for the mother and newborn. The results of the research investigation can be used to improve the quality of nursing care...
Problems of car-driving under alcohol intoxication focused on the driver risking behaviour
Matějková, Radka ; Šucha, Matúš (advisor) ; Reichelová, Lenka (referee)
The bachelor's work is focused on car-driving under alcohol intoxication. This work considers a risky behaviour of drivers related to alcohol consuming and reasons which lead to hazardous behaviour on the roads. It also informs about possible risks and consequences connected with this problems and statistic survey of accidents due to driving under alcohol influence. This work further informs about an alcohol influence on a human, about possibilities of prevention in traffic, and about generally attitude of Czech society to this legal drug. The survival part addressed two hundred volunteers who filled my questionnaire out. One hundred and nine people were used as a representative sample to ilustrate the situtation connected to driving under alcohol intoxication. The survival is concerned on pesonal features of the volunteers and on circumstences which determined the volunteers who drank alcohol and then drove. The survival realized on the base of the questionnaire which was either delivered by e-mail or personally. The result of this 6 survival is informations which describes a driver who tends to accept the risk of alcohol driving and resons which can be reponsible for alcohol driving.
Contribution to the tectonic interpretation of the seismicity pattern of Banda Arc, SE Asia

i Abstract Contribution to the tectonic interpretation of the seismicity pattern of the Banda Arc, Southeast Asia Tectonic structure of the Banda Arc in Southeast Asia is regarded as an extremely complicated unit as it is situated at the intersection of four lithospheric plates: Eurasian, Indo-Australian, Pacific, and Philippine. The present-day tectonic regime is arc-continent collision. The seismotectonic pattern of the Banda Arc region was studied using global seismological data. Relocated EHB hypocentral determinations for the period 1964 - 2004 and fault plane solutions of Harvard CMT data for the period 1976 - 2004 have been used. The analysis of spatial distribution of earthquake foci and the analysis of focal mechanisms enabled to distinguish the foci belonging to the Wadati-Benioff zone of the subducting plate from those occurring in the overriding plate. The analysis discriminated two opposite dipping subduction zones - southern Banda subduction and northern Seram subduction. The following specific phenomena were observed in the Wadati-Benioff zone: (i) unusual lateral bent of the Wadati-Benioff zone of the southern Banda subduction, (ii) intermediate- depth (100 - 220 km), vertically situated domain of the highest seismicity within the Wadati-Benioff zone of the southern Banda subduction, (iii)...
The Bohemian Forest glacial lakes
MATĚJKOVÁ, Radka
Matějková R. 2018: Glacial lakes of the Bohemian Forest. Bachelor thesis. University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, Faculty of Education, České Budějovice. 68 s. The bachelor thesis is to briefly and factually acquaint the readers - teachers of elementary schools - with the current problems of acidification and revival of the glacial lakes of Bohemian Forest. The growth of industrial production in Central Europe during the 20th century resulted in a gradual increase in the volume of industrial emissions. The result of the presence of industrial emissions in the air was acid rain. The acid rain has changed the chemistry of soil and lake waters alike, and thus has fundamentally influenced the communities of both terrestrial and aquatic organisms.Reduction of amount of industrial emissions at the turn of the 80s and 90s of the last century was a precondition for recovery from the acidification.Recovery is slow, but it is possible to see some positive changes after just twenty years.
Definition of the term "peer-work" in the Czech Republic with a focus on drug users.
Matějková, Radka ; Janíková, Barbara (advisor) ; Vavrinčíková, Lenka (referee)
Abroad is the method of peer work dealing with the involvement of drug users (active and retired) extended far more than in the Czech Republic. Information and data are available mainly from foreign sources, where peer work has been continuing a tradition. In the Czech Republic, this method is still not so much used, as well as is the lack of Czech professional literature on the subject. Method of peer work in the Czech Republic has not been comprehensively mapped, described and evaluated. They are organizations dealing with the involvement and employment of drug users, which usually draw infromation from foreign sources and work with their data. There is no comprehensive overview, providing information and data in this area in the Czech Republic. The target of this work is to map the use of peer work in the Czech Republic in the area of drug services. Within the sub-targets are the structure and functioning of each peer programs studying. The practical part is realized by an empirical research (research orientation) in order to get a general overview of the analysis of the problem in the form of quantitative research. For the data collection was used a questionnaire distributed in the online version. The basic set was consisted of low-threshold programs in harm reduction, contact centers and...
