The implication of Swiss neutrality during the Second World War (international political aspect)

The thesis analyses the importance and benefits of Swiss neutrality during the Second World War, both for Switzerland itself, and for the two fighting parties. During the war, country was surrounded by territory that fell under German influence, so Switzerland was forced to cooperate extensively with the Third Reich. Not only this situation but also dependence on foreign trade forced the country to deal mainly with its northern neighbour. Its role as a neutral intermediary was not used, as the Allies refused to enter into any kind of peace with Germany. The thesis also deals with the question whether Switzerland preserved its neutrality at all, why was it spared Hitler's conquests and what is the view of its neutrality on moral grounds.

Dynamics of the Human Right Priority in Czech Foreign Policy

This bachelor thesis deals with the human rights priority in Czech foreign policy and its dynamics. The aim of this thesis is to characterize Czech human rights foreign policy in two different periods: from the beginning of the Czech Republic until the year of 2013 and from the year of 2014 until today and to compare those periods. First chapter is theoretical, it is focused on the role of human rights in the foreign policy of a small state. Practical part of the thesis is concentrated on characteristics of each period and on the evaluation of the development.

The Yom Kippur War and the mediation of the USA in this conflict

The object of this work is an analysis of the Arabic-Israeli conflict known as the Yom Kippur war and the mediative involement of the USA in this conflict. The name of the war is based on the Yom Kippur festival which was held just on that day when the surprising attack against Israel started. From the theoretical point of view the work will explain the terms of mediation and war in connection to a settlement of conflict. Using this theoretical stem I will try to analyse the war mentioned above and the mediation role of the USA. The main question I want to answer is whether the USA took this part in the Yom Kippur war just because of the oil embargo imposed on all allies of Israel by the Arabic member states of the OPEC organization in 1973 or not. The result of the analysis will be presented in the conclusion of this work.

The role of Zbigniew Brzezinski in shaping the american foreign policy

This thesis focuses on the analysis of american foreign policy formation by the national security advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski mostly during the Carter's presidency. Brzezinski has been personally involved in the process of the nuclear weapons limitation talks with the USSR and he has contributed significantly to the signing of SALT II. He is considered to be one of the leaders of the normalization with China. Nowadays he often comments on the american and global security and he is known as an excellent strategist and prognosticator.

South Korean Foreign Policy towards DPRK: the Factor of State Identity

Presented work analyses the South Korean foreign policy vis a vis DPRK through the role of state (and national) identity. The analysis is focused on the period between 1998 and 2013 comprising the administrations of three South Korean presidents, however, historical development and regional context are also included in order to provide background for understanding of the nature and sources of identity changes in later foreign policy choices. The author uses the concept of national other and its implications for explaining continuities and discontinuities in South Korean identification towards its Northern neighbor. The aim of the work is to trace changes in South Korean identification and how they were translated into concrete foreign policy measures, furthermore it explores the between these continuities and turns in identity towards DPRK in relation to South Korean identity towards other important regional actors (the U.S. in particular).

The thesis deals with China's Internal Challenges and the Impact on International Relations in the 21st century. First it analyses the transformation of the middle class, urbanisation and the one-child policy. After that the thesis deals with the economic boom of China, its present position in the world economy and its domestic and foreign investments. Attention is also focused on the increasing assertiveness of China in foreign affairs, particularly with regard to its voting in the UN Security Council. Finally, the thesis analyses the problems of disputed island and interior territories that China claims.

Current foreign politics of Georgia

This bachelor thesis deals with the era of foreign politics of president Saakashvili and especially its comparison with Georgian national interests. The key issue of this thesis is the Russo-Georgian war of 2008. The main aim of this work is a wide-ranging study of national interests of Georgia, politics of Michail Saakashvili, with special attention given to his role in war with the Russian Federation in 2008 and consequently a comparison of both. The hypothesis of this work claims that one-sided orientation of foreign politics of Georgia is not beneficial and does not comply with its national interests.

The research issue of this diploma thesis is a civil war. The main aim is to uncover mechanisms that form a logical chain reasons - mechanisms - indicators. The work is composed of a theoretical research and 2 case studies (Sudan, Georgia). A list of general indicators of CW is included. Our of a comples analysis of a civil war there's a main emphasis on previous context and reasons.

The role of the UN in solving the Syrian problem

This thesis deals with the Syrian conflict. The Syrian conflict has continued for over three years (April 2014) and still constitutes a topical and developing affair. It represents a pressing and unresolved national and international issue. There is a vast amount of groups with different ideas involved in this conflict. During the conflict, conventional, as well as chemical weapons were used. The consequences of the fighting are mostly faced by local inhabitants who have been severely suffering due to the harsh living and humanitarian conditions. The aim of this thesis is to depict the problems of the Syrian conflict, evaluate the role the UN has had up to the present, and answer the question whether the UN has totally failed in solving the Syrian conflict, or not.
