Assessment of landscape fragmentation of Western Carpathians in relation to occurrence of large carnivores
Vlková, Kristýna ; Romportl, Dušan (advisor) ; Lipský, Zdeněk (referee)
This thesis deals with the landscape fragmentation in relation to the spatial and migration requirements of large carnivores in Western Carpathians region. Based on the data of the model species (Lynx Lynx) occurrence and selected environmental factors, the habitat suitability for Lynx Lynx is discussed using the Maxent habitat model. Employing the Effective Mesh Size method, the current landscape fragmentation caused by the transport infrastructure and urban development is studied in detail in terms of the fragmentation geometry. In addition to the analysis of measure of the current fragmentation, this thesis also includes a prediction of development of the landscape fragmentation in relation to the planned large transport constructions up to the year 2030. Comparing the habitat suitability model with the measure of current landscape fragmentation, the areas with the greatest potential of the Lynx Lynx permanent occurrence as well as the problematic areas in view of the dispersion and individuals migration are determined. Comparing the habitat suitability model with the prognosis of development of the landscape fragmentation, the impact of the planned road constructions on the suitable habitat is assessed.
Changes in land cover and landscape use in the former military training area Ralsko after 1990
Tvrzník, Lukáš ; Lipský, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Romportl, Dušan (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the change of the landscape cover and the use of the landscape of the former Ralsko military training area after 1990. The former VVP Ralsko is located on the area of 250 km2 between Česká Lípa, Stráží pod Ralskem and Mnichovo Hradištěm. Most of its territory lies in the Liberec region and only its southern part reaches the Central Bohemian region. After the departure of the Soviet troops in 1991, the military training area was abolished and on 1 January 1992 the village of Ralsko, which currently has 171 km2 , was formed by merging nine municipalities in its former territory. The town of Ralsko is thus an area with the largest area in the Czech Republic. Between 1993 and 2004, the former military area was decontaminated, during which more than 120,000 pieces of ammunition were found and destroyed. Decontamination of contaminated soils and groundwater is ongoing. Some former military buildings are currently commercially used as warehouses for raw materials. The Military Airport at Hradčany is partly used for sports purposes, and a range of rare game species has been set up in the area of the Židlov tank space, of which the most interesting is the European Tooth (Bison bonasus). In the first part of the thesis there is a search of specialized literature dealing with...
Development of cultural landscape of Podmoklansko in the basin of the Cerhovka
Sládek, Karel ; Lipský, Zdeněk (referee)
The main aim of the thesis was to evaluate the development of the cul tural landscape of Podmoklansko (region) in the river basin of the Cerhovka. The area concerned was analyzed using the old maps, as well as aerial and satellite pictures of the area. The changes in various categories of land use were also evaluated. The ecological stability was quantitatively expressed by the coefficient of ecological stability. The development of the cultural landscape of Podmoklansko region was also compared with the general evolution of the Czech landscape since the 18th century. Based on field research, the ecological, eco-aesthetic a sacred function of the landscape was described.
Land use and decrease of agricultural land: New wilderness
Jarolímková, Kamila ; Bičík, Ivan (advisor) ; Lipský, Zdeněk (referee)
Theoretical part of the thesis deals with relationships dynamics interaction between human and nature. These relationships are monitored by data of land use development. The "new wilderness" concept is presented in the theoretical part from various learned views as well and there are described different definitions and typologies of the term. Empirical part of the thesis is about "new wilderness" formation on the microregional level. The location of the research was situated to border microregion Vejprty in the Ore Mountains because of primary analysis of potential for "new wilderness" creation. The particular examples of the "new wilderness" are presented on the model areas in the microregion Vejprty .There are described driving forces for creation of each "new wilderness" type in those areas. The "new wilderness" in the nature is shown by comparison of historical and contemporary photos of the model areas Key words: land- use - "new wilderness" - Ore Mountains - microregion Vejprty - comparison photos
The influence of important local entrepreneurs on changes in landscape use: case study from municipalities Zbraslavice and Bohdaneč
Váňa, Jan ; Lipský, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Frélichová, Jana (referee)
This thesis titled "The influence of important local entrepreneurs on changes in landscape use: case study from municipalities Zbraslavice and Bohdaneč" is focused on the evaluation of changes in the use of the countryside after 1990. The search part briefly summarizes the data for the study and evaluation methods of land use changes values of natural capital and ecosystem services. Followed by the physical-geographical characteristics of interest area. In the practical part there are applied acquired theoretical knowledge and practices, evaluating the change of land use of the municipalities Bohdaneč and Zbraslavice in the period 1838-2013 and the change of the volume of natural capital and ecosystem services at the same territory between 1990 and 2013. On the basis of the results are formulated trends that are being discussed with local knowledge, national and global levels. It is also monitored and evaluated the effects of three local businesses to detected changes. It is concluded that the changes in land use area of interest after 1990 are positive and that due to the implementation of business plans, these changes take place much faster and stronger than reported national trends. The text is supplemented adds a number of charts, graphs and thematic maps and the annex. Key words: landscape...
Evaluation and charges in the extent of non-ferest woody vegetation in landscape
Demková, Katarína ; Lipský, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Chuman, Tomáš (referee) ; Skaloš, Jan (referee)
Non-forest woody vegetation is an important landscape feature of agricultural/rural landscape. Ph.D. thesis deals with evaluation of current state of non-forest woody vegetation, historical development and changes in configuration and composition in landscape. Non-forest woody vegetation was investigated in two physical-geographical different model areas (Kutnohorsko Region and White Carpathians). The thesis is based on own data collected in the field and digitized on historical aerial photos and current ortho-photos. After that, data were analyzed in relation to natural conditions and changes of landscape structure since 50s of 20th century until present. Comparing both model areas, assumed differences in character of non-forest woody vegetation, species composition, dominated type as well as relation to habitats/locations were confirmed. However, rapid changes of landscape structure in the last 60 years were caused by the same driving forces such as re-allotment, mechanization and intensification of agriculture. After 1989, processes such extensification of agriculture and land abandonment played the main role in landscape, especially in mountain regions. The second aim of the Ph.D. thesis was to identify changes in spatial configuration of non- forest woody vegetation in two...
Historical position of alpine timberline in the Krkonoše Mts. derived from antique maps and photographs
Vágner, Tomáš ; Treml, Václav (advisor) ; Lipský, Zdeněk (referee)
The purpose of the diploma thesis is the analysis of alpine timberline shifts in the Giant Mountains between 18th and 21st century. The altitudinal position of alpine timberline is a sensitive indicator which reflects human impacts as well as the climatic changes. Methodical approach included the reconstruction of alpine timberlines from the old maps (published in 1765, 1851-52, 1879, 1906) and their comparison with the newer data, which were evaluated from a series of aerial photographs dated 1936 and 2002 (actualized 2005; data provided by supervisor). Data obtained from the old maps and aerial photographs (1936) were compared and verified with old photos and postcards from Giant Mountains. The average altitude of alpine timberline increased during the study period. The increase in elevation of alpine timberline is significant between 19th and first half of 20th century, e. g. in period when the human influence in Giant Mountains decreased. It is concluded that position of alpine timberline in Giant Mountains depended on human influence. Key words: tree line, alpine timberline, human influence, Giant Mountains
