Factors influencing customer profitability: an empirical examination in noncontractual settings
Hanuska, Norbert ; Kyjonka, Vladimír (advisor) ; Král, Jaroslav (referee)
Understanding of how to manage relationships with customers has become an important topic for both academic and practitioners in recent years. The effectiveness of business can be greatly improved by identifying the drivers of the most profitable customers and using them to target the right customers. In this study we identify exchange characteristics such as amount of money spent per purchase, customer relationship duration with firm, ratio of cross-buying and demographic characteristics such as age and gender as important drivers of the most profitable customers. The results of the study have important implications for academicians in understanding what drives the most profitable customers in noncotractual settings as well as practitioners to help design more effective marketing strategies. Moreover, the results of knowledge discovery about customers by different data mining techniques also contribute to help researchers identifying feasibility of these methods. Data Quality Scorecards
Valčík, Jakub ; Kyjonka, Vladimír (advisor) ; Král, Jaroslav (referee)
The aim of the work is to create a system for an automatic measurement and evaluation of data quality and performance monitoring of processes of data quality management based on Data Quality Scorecards. The goal of Data Quality Scorecards is to implement a multidimensional model for quantification of the relationship between data quality and business processes in the organization, monitoring these measures from various point of views on different aggregation levels.
Data Profiling
Hladíková, Radka ; Kyjonka, Vladimír (advisor) ; Galgonek, Jakub (referee)
Title: Data Profiling Author: Radka Hladíková Department: Department of Software Engineering Supervisor: Ing. Vladimír Kyjonka Supervisor's e-mail address: Vladimir.Kyjonka@cze.sas.com Abstract: This thesis puts mind on problems with data quality and data profiling. This Work analyses and summarizes problems of data quality, data defects, process of data quality, data quality assessment and data profiling. The main topic is data profiling as a process of researching data available in existing data sources and creating of statistics and information about these data. There is a projected system for evaluating data status in term of its quality. Work is focused on measuring of general characteristic of data, following data defects and its analyses. With the help of data quality SW there is a projected and realized system for evaluation of data quality for real data. Keywords: data quality, data profiling, data quality metric, DataFlux
External Economic Analysisi of an Enterprise

High Performance Analytics
Kalický, Andrej ; Kyjonka, Vladimír (advisor) ; Holubová, Irena (referee)
This thesis explains Big Data Phenomenon, which is characterised by rapid growth of volume, variety and velocity of data - information assets, and thrives the paradigm shift in analytical data processing. Thesis aims to provide summary and overview with complete and consistent image about the area of High Performance Analytics (HPA), including problems and challenges on the pioneering state-of-art of advanced analytics. Overview of HPA introduces classification, characteristics and advantages of specific HPA method utilising the various combination of system resources. In the practical part of the thesis the experimental assignment focuses on analytical processing of large dataset using analytical platform from SAS Institute. The experiment demonstrates the convenience and benefits of In-Memory Analytics (specific HPA method) by evaluating the performance of different analytical scenarios and operations. Deduplication methods in databases
Vávra, Petr ; Kyjonka, Vladimír (advisor) ; Skopal, Tomáš (referee)
In the present work we study the record deduplication problem as an issue of data quality. We define duplicates as records having different syntax and the same semantics and which are representing the same real-world entity. The main goal of this work is to provide the overview of existing deduplication methods according to their requirements, results and usability. We focus on the comparison of two groups of record deduplication methods - with and without the domain knowledge. Therefore, the second part of this work is dedicated to the implementation of our method which does not utilize any domain knowledge and compare its results with the results of commercial tool deeply utilizing the domain knowledge.
