Rudolf Arnheim's psychology of art
Kutil, Lukáš ; Lukavský, Jiří (advisor) ; Šípek, Jiří (referee)
The presented thesis introduces Rudolf Arnheim's core claims regarding psychology of art. Arnheim's conceptions of expression, affectivity, visual dynamics, centric and eccentric composition (etc.) are investigated within the text. Furthermore, more recent empirical findings are brought to attention to confront Arnheim's view. A complete picture of Arnheim's theory of expression should be drawn in historical context. The empirical study hereby conducted offers a closer look at a number of Arnheim's hypotheses regarding the "weight" phenomenon, as described by author. The perception of "weight" is observed in relation to the chromatic characteristics of presented stimuli. Keywords Rudolf Arnheim, Gestalttheorie, theory of expression, affectivity, perception
Phenomenological theory of perception in Edmund Husserl's work
Kutil, Lukáš ; Takács, Lea (advisor) ; Heller, Daniel (referee)
The literary-summary section presents phenomenological analyses of perception in Edmund Husserl's work, with special emphasis on Husserl's most important works on the topic of perception, namely the Fifth logical investigation, Ideas pertaining to a pure phenomenology and phenomenological philosophy I and the lectures on Thing and space. At the beggining, the basic principles of Husserl's phenomenological method are explained, for those are fundamentally determinative for the understanding Husserl's approach to perception. Husserl's view of the process of constitution of material nature is clarified in terms of reflexion, phenomenological epoché and reduction, trancendental consciousness and eidetic reduction. The very analyses of perception are then presented within the framework of Husserl's "static" idea of phenomenology, referring to structural analyses of consciousness, while the "genetic- phenomenological" context of perception is intentionally sidelined, becoming thematic later in the text soley for the purpose of explanation of Husserl's idea of the temporal dimension of perception. In the empirical section of this thesis a cognitive-psychological research is proposed, where the synthetic proces of identification, as described by Husserl, is studied in an experimental situation.
