Study of ionospheric variability
Mošna, Zbyšek ; Koucká Knížová, Petra (advisor)
Study of ionospheric variability High variability of the ionosphere is connected to geomagnetic, solar, and neutral atmosphere wave activity. Results of scaling analysis of solar data (F10.7, SSN), geomagnetic indices (Dst, Kp, AE), and ionospheric critical frequencies (foF2) show similar structure of Kp, AE and foF2 at periods in the range from 4 to 32 days. Data structure depends on the location of ionospheric stations. Correlation coefficients between foF2 and geomagnetic and solar indices depend on length of time scale. We show that vertical coupling exists between neutral atmosphere activity and sporadic E layer area. This connection is located predominantly on periods corresponding to internal modes of planetary waves. Interplanetary magnetic field discontinuities (Coronal mass ejections, Magnetic clouds, Hight speed solar streams) affect strongly the ionosphere. Analysed events lead to lowering of foF2, increase in heights of the layer F2 and oscillations of hmF2 and foF2 on periods in the order of hours.

Coupling processes of various timescales in the middle atmosphere
Kuchař, Aleš ; Pišoft, Petr (advisor) ; Koucká Knížová, Petra (referee) ; Thiéblemont, Rémi (referee)
The thesis deals with the manifestation of coupling processes of various timescales in the middle atmosphere. Longer and shorter timescales are represented here by the 11-year solar cycle (SC) and orographic gravity waves (oGWs) considered on the intraseasonal timescale of the north hemisphere winter, respectively. The first two chapters deal with the application of rigorous attribution the variability of temperature, ozone and circulation characteristics in the stratosphere and lower mesosphere with regard to the SC using multiple nonlinear techniques (support vector regression and neural networks) besides the multiple linear regression approach. The aliasing of the SC with volcanic eruptions or the El Niňo Southern Oscillation is qualitatively assessed and its impact on conclusions about the top-down coupling mechanisms discussed. The last chapter examines the role of parametrized oGWs in the lower stratosphere. The Himalayan hotspot reveals common features with sudden stratospheric warmings such as the residual circulation amplification leading to a warming and ozone enrichment in the polar latitudes of the lower stratosphere.

Title: Ionospheric drift measurements Author: Daniel Kouba Department: Department of Surface and Plasma Science Supervisor: RNDr. Petra Koucká Knížová, Ph.D. Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic Abstract: This thesis deals with ionospheric drift measurements using Digisonde DPS-4. The results are divided into theoretical and practical part. It is shown that for drift data processing it is necessary to choose correct reflection points corresponding to drift movements first. The selection is made in three steps: restriction of Doppler frequency shift, height range selection, choice of the maximum zenith angle. After- wards it is possible to credibly estimate the vector of drift velocity. The experimental results of drift measurements are based on data from the Pru- honice station. To study the common behavior of ionospheric drifts during quiet conditions, the statistical characteristics of drift velocity components are investiga- ted in layers E and F during geomagnetic quiet year 2006. The maximal daily amplitude of horizontal velocity demonstrates the influence of geomagnetic activity. It is proved to be considerable in the F layer meanwhile it was not observed in the E layer. The effect of strong geomagnetic disturbances is shown at two examples of extreme storms. The...

Digisonde measurement

Ionospheric station in Průhonice currently performs its measurements using Digisonda DPS 4D. The vertical profile of the electron concentration can be measured by ionospheric vertical sounding using Ionosonde and Digisonde. The electron concentration profile shows the location of the layers of the ionosphere, the D, E, F1 and F2 layers, and the electron concentration at a given height. Another way to study the behavior of the ionosphere is to measure Doppler shift in ionospheric plasma. The Průhonická observatory is part of the Digisond World Network. The measured data is immediately automatically sent to the GIRO database (http://ulcar.uml.edu/DIDBase/).

Impact of the troposphere on the inosphere
Koucká Knížová, Petra ; Mošna, Zbyšek ; Potužníková, Kateřina ; Boška, Josef ; Kouba, Daniel
Ionosphere represents weakly ionized plasma that reflects solar and geomagnetic activity and processes\nin the neutral atmosphere. Correlation of long time series of the ionospheric plasma critical frequencies,\nobtained by mean of vertical sounding from European stations, is analysed with respect to latitudinal and\nlongitudinal difference and surface distance of stations. Time series of critical frequencies are highly correlated\nreflecting the dominant solar influence. Correlation coefficients are high not only for raw data and subtracted\nmean courses but for fluctuations around mean as well. At the surface distance exceeding 1000 km and/ or about\n10 degrees of latitudinal difference between stations, the correlation coefficients of fluctuations decrease\nrapidly. Such effect is less visible on the latitudinal dependence, where the correlation coefficients decrease with\nincreasing distance with less pronounced threshold. We explain the existence of the ‘break point’ at 10 degrees\nin longitude and/or 1000 km by the ‘local’ influence of the neutral atmosphere and the wave activity. As a\npossible source of the common influence on scale 1000 km/10 degree we propose tropospheric systems that are\nknown to be an important source of atmospheric waves in a broad period range. Large tropospheric mesoscale\nsystems have typically up to 2000 km in size.
An analysis of the healthcare financing in the Czech Republic between the years 2000 - 2013 and its current problems
Koucká, Petra ; Kobliha, Pavel (advisor) ; Chmelová, Pavla (referee)
The problematic of healthcare financing is due to constantly rising costs a current and highly discussed topic. The health sector in the Czech Republic is funded through significant amounts of both public and private money, which are further transformed and redistributed. The aim of this thesis is to analyze healthcare financing in the Czech Republic between the years 2000 - 2013, to specify its current problems and present possible future development of healthcare in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part defines basic definitions associated with health and health care. Moreover, it defines models of health care systems in the world and the development of health care in the Czech Republic. The practical part analyzes the financing of health care in the Czech Republic, its current problematic and future development of Czech healthcare.
