Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of: Pharmaceutical Technology Candidate: Pavel Kotrbatý Supervisor: PharmDr. Barbora Vraníková, Ph.D. Title of Diploma Thesis: Compressibility study of the mixture of Neusilin® US2 with varying amounts of propylene glycol Preparation of liquisolid systems is modern method, which allows converting of a drug in a liquid form to a dry, free flowing powder blend suitable for further processing. This method leads tocreases bioavailability of poorly water-soluble drugs. The aim of this diploma thesis was to study influence of the amount of propylene glycol on the compressibility of liquisolid powder and properties of tablets. Viscoelastic properties (E1 - energy of friction, E2 - energy accumulated by the tablet after the compression, E3 - energy reeleased after decompression, E - total energy and Pl - plasticity) were determined from force-displacement record. Tablets were form ussing a compression force of 1,5 kN from 13 different powder blends, which differ in used the amount of propylene glycol. The obtained tablets were evaluated in compliance with Parmacopoeia (mass uniformity, pycnometric density, height and diameter, tensile strength, friability and disintegration time). Tablets had low tensile strengh (max. 0,6583 ±...
