Sea surface temperature variability in the North Atlantic and its effect on temperature and precipitation in Europe
Kodetová, Tereza ; Pokorná, Lucie (advisor) ; Beranová, Romana (referee)
The sea surface temperature (SST) of the North Atlantic (NA) has a demonstrable impact on Europe's climate. The main purpose of this final thesis is to investigate the long-term evolution of SST in SA and to describe the influence of SST change in NA on temperatures and precipitation in Europe. For this purpose, the freely available HadISST database from the Met Office Hadley Centre Observations datasets was chosen. The study period 1980-2019 was chosen so that the data would not be affected by switching to a different measurement type or processing method, and also by the inclusion of satellite measurements. This means that the data was acquired after the start of satellite measurements, which provides a much higher quality and more comprehensive coverage of the area. The next step was to calculate the average monthly and annual SSTs in the NA area of interest. Monthly mean SSTs ranged from 2,3 řC in the coldest month of March to the highest measured mean SST of 18,5 řC in August. The average annual SST of the area of interest was 10,5 řC over the 40 years analysed. Next, monthly and annual trends were detected from 1980-2019. The trends range from -0,7 řC to 1,5 řC, but it was confirmed that the area of interest is warming in all months over the 40 year period. The final objective was to...
Recent changes of sea surface temperature in the North Atlantic
Kodetová, Tereza ; Pokorná, Lucie (advisor) ; Křížová, Milada (referee)
Sea surface temperatures (SST) have been changing in all world's oceans in the last decades; these changes have an impact on the continental climate. This bachelor thesis focuses on the recent changes of SST in the North Atlantic and their influence on the climate change in Europe. The first part of the thesis describes the physical-geographical characteristics of the North Atlantic. It consists of its divisions, bottom and coastal characteristics, spatial distributions of the water temperature and a water salinity. It also includes a description of the atmospheric circulation that occurs over the North Atlantic and the circulation inside of the North Atlantic. The second part of the bachelor thesis focuses on the SST and its measurement, Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation (AMO) and a long-term changes which occur, and furthermore on the impact of these changes on the climate change in Europe. The results of the studies have shown that the biggest impact of SST changes in the North Atlantic is visible during summer months. These are the times of the greatest anomalies in the temperatures and precipitation, either on the positive or negative scale, depending on the phase of AMO or North Atlantic Oscillation. Key words: air temperature, Europe, Noth Atlantic, precipitation, sea surface temperature
Analysis of employee benefits
Kodetová, Tereza ; Legnerová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Palíšková, Marcela (referee)
The target of this bachelor thesis is to analyze employee benefits from the perspective of employees and to employers suggest possible ideas to improve their provision. The work is divided into two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part describes the overal remuneration of employees, payroll system and employee benefits. Benefits are included in the remuneration system, broken and some of them are defined. The practical part presents a survey among employees in the Czech Republic. Here are classified research methods, identification of respondents and subsequent analysis of the research results, including recommendations for employers.
