The Movement of Mexicanidad in Central Mexico

Dissertation The Movement of Mexicanidad in Central Mexico focuses on the movement of Mexicanidad and its widespread ritual praxis of Aztec dance (Danza Azteca-Mexica). The aim of this study is to present the movement of Mexicanidad from the point of view of its participants -danzantes Mexicas. Describing the movement of Mexicanidad from their perspective, sketching their motives and understanding what lays behind the identity of being Mexica are key factors to the understanding of the whole movement and its role and increasing popularity in present Mexican society. This dissertation also outlines the early days of the ritual Danza Azteca-Mexica and the origins of today's calpultin, primarily primordial cultural/ritual activities developed or followed by contemporary Mexicas. It examines the role of ritual in the process of creating the identity of urban people in present Mexico, the way it helps them to face their problems and challenges of current society, economic uncertainty and their everyday reality. This dissertation stems from author's field research in 2009-2017, participant observation, as well as personal and telephone ethnographic interviews from 2010 till 2021 and academic literature. Georgius Josephus Camel and his Work: Jesuit Bohemics of an Ethnobotanical Charcter in SE Asia in the 17th ant 18th Centuries

The main objective of the work is to expand the state of knowledge on the early contacts of the Czech lands with the area of SE Asia, e.g. the missionary Georgius Josephus Camel. In the introduction of the work, the author evaluates the current state of knowledge of the topic. A brief historical excursion follows into the more general issue of the European presence in SE Asia and the history of the Society of Jesus in the Lands of the Bohemian Crown and in the Philippines. Other chapters deal with the significance of the mission itself, the requirement of everyday mission activity and using archival materials come closer to the milieu in which the missionaries lived. A brief introduction to the history of botany with a look at the area of SE Asia then concludes the first part of the work. The second part of the work is devoted to the figure of G. J. Camel, a missionary from the Czech provenance of the Society of Jesus, who at the turn of the eighteenth century worked in the Philippines. A detailed biography informs on the important events of his life and predominantly then on his botanical, pharmacological and ethnobotanical interest. Tarahumara/Rarámuri in Northwestern Mexico. From cave dwellings to ejido

This paper refers to Northwestem Mexico, name1y to the largest present native group the Tarahumara IRarámuri Indians. The thesis, which consists of three independent parts and nine chapters, shoves foremost on the reconstruction of development of this area (with a view to the Tarahumara people) from the prehistoric times to the arrival of first Spanish conquerors and missionaries and it seeks, simultaneously, to do certain more critical evaluation of the archaeological (ethnoarchaeological) researches, the biology anthropological researches and investigations in cultural geography, first more serious ethnographic fieldworks and principal historical resources with them some historians are working. It has been taken advantage of many works and older researches which represents the definite representative sample for the frame of one~s own hypotheses and questions at what we are looking for the answer. The second part targets the some theoretical conceptions as ethnicity (ethnic identity), social and cultural identity, the acculturation or transculturation or some Mexican (Latin American) version of political identity indigenism with them it works generally and more concretely and it nears namely on the Mexican material some doubtable theses as interna/ c%nialism and with it connected the simplified idea about...

Living celebration of death: The Day of the Dead in contemporary Mexican society Mgr. Petra Ponocná Abstract This work deals with perceptions of The Day of the Dead feast in the urban society of Mexico City in the context of official ideology of Mexican cultural nationalism. Dissertation was founded on fieldwork in Mexico City in two different locations, namely delegación Cuauhtémoc and delegación Xochimilco. I focus on the perceptions of the feast by research partners and I try to point out the process of self-identification with the locality and its relation to attitude formation to The Day of the Dead and national identity. I investigate the role of the state and the city in organizing the holiday and research partners reactions to these interventions. The work is based on long-term ethnographic research with distinctive elements of auto ethnography
