Relatedness and gene flow between breeds of the domestic fowl
Buchtová, Lucie ; Vinkler, Michal (advisor) ; Trefil, Pavel (referee)
Domestic chickens are domestic animals with tremendous economic value. Due to this value, high-production lines have more important role for humans than fancy breeds and rural populations. Production traits of these high-production lines are not comparable with traditional breeds. The preference for larger profit gradually diminishes the importance of the traditional breeds, which leads to their replacement increasing the risk of loss of their genetic variability. Despite this trend, general awareness of this problem increses providing hope in saving these rich sources of genetic variation. We selected sample of 272 individuals representing 33 traditional (fancy) breeds. I evaluated the degree of variability through the analysis of twenty selected neutral markers (mtDNA control region and 19 microsatellite loci) and four immune genes (TLR3, TLR4, TLR5, TLR7). The main aims were: to map the origin of modern breeds between ancient breeds, identify the possible geographic origin of the breeds, to compare the rate of neutral and functional variation between breeds with the level of variation within breeds and to compare the degree of shared polymorphism (gene flow / ancestral polymorphism) of neutral markers and immune genes. The results show that we can genetically differentiate breeds and identify...
Usage of molecular genetics in investigation of origin of domesticated animals
Buchtová, Lucie ; Vinkler, Michal (advisor) ; Hájková, Petra (referee)
Animal domestication has been one of the most significant agricultural activities of modern humans. It allowed not only more efficient utilization of some animals, but also their breeding which led to improvements in their properties and through crossbreeding to gain of novel forms utilizable in agriculture. This artificial selection and in several cases probably also interspecific hybridization allowed the emergence of the contemporary diversity of breeds of the domestic animals. The origin of individual breeds has been, however, long forgotten and comparative morphology cannot provide us much guidance for understanding of the relatedness of individual breeds. The information on relatedness of breeds is, nonetheless, highly needed, for instance, for evaluation of selection and prediction of the functional significance of the existing genetic variability. Hence, methods of molecular genetics represent the only way how to estimate phylogeny of the domestic breeds. The aim of this work is to shortly review molecular methods which have been used in animal domestication research and outline the results which have been obtained by their application. Based on incongruences and agreements in the results of the published studies the applicability of these methods is critically evaluated and credibility of...
Kompenzace dyslexie v podmínkách střední školy
Buchtová, Lucie
This bachelor thesis deals with specific disorders of pupils at secondary school. Theoretical part is aimed at definition of separate disorders, next up causes, diagnostics, symptoms and reeducation. There is also a chapter about hepl institutions which help people with specific learning disorders and also about people who help them. Practical part is realised in form of quality research. Research is dedicated to case study of student at the age of twenty-one. Partial methods which were used are observation, interviews, case history, questionniare and analyse of the result of activities. Objective of the theoretical part is to find out the newest information in domain of specific disorders of learning. Goal of the practical part is to elaborate a case study. At this point the attention was paid to secondary school and all levels of school and family.
Entrepreneurship of small and medium-sized companies in Belgium
Buchtová, Lucie ; Černohlávková, Eva (advisor) ; Froňková, Martina (referee)
This thesis is focused on the analysis of business conditions of small and medium-sized enterprises in Belgium. First chapter involves the definition of these companies, describes their weaknesses and strengths and importance in the European Union. Next part includes short information about Belgium and contains also the description of the local business environment. Third chapter aims at the characteristics of small and medium-sized companies in Belgium considering the total number of active companies, employment and other measures and analyzes in detail the system of the public support at the european, national and regional level. The last part compares the sector of SMEs in Belgium with the same category of enterprises in the Czech Republic.
Particularities of corporate environment, cultural and business customs of Jamaica
Buchtová, Lucie ; Gullová, Soňa (advisor) ; Klosová, Anna (referee)
In my bachelor thesis I focus on the analysis of corporate environment, cultural and business customs of Jamaica. I aim at the introduction of this small country to foreign investors in order to help them learn more about its market. My thesis is divided into four parts according to PEST analysis that describes four different sections of business environment. The first chapter involves the basic data about Jamaica including geography, history and population of the country. The second chapter takes into consideration the first part of PEST analysis - legal and political environment of Jamaica. The next section is deducated to the economy of Jamaica and the specific role of direct foreign investments. The core part of my thesis is represented by the fourth chapter that includes information about business etiquette, cultural and social manners, norms and values of Jamaican society analysed by G. Hofstede` s research. The last chapter describes technological environment and compares position of Jamaican research and development with other countries of the world.
