Plovdiv in history and legends

This thesis is focused on Plovdiv, the second largest city in Bulgaria. The city has a wide range of monuments and a colorful history. It developed under various influences, so I will present a brief picture of it in history from the period of the Thracians to the Ottoman rule, and it's folk literature. We will look at some folklore terms and their definitions. Finally, I will present specific examples of folk literature from Plovdiv that I managed to collect, and in the end they will be evaluated to see if they have a connection with the historical context.
Poetics of the short stories of Dejan Enev

The aim of this diploma thesis is the introduction of the poetics in the work of the contemporary Bulgarian writer Dejan Enev (*1960), who is mainly writing short stories. Enev is an almost unknown author in the Czech milieu (only these short stories were published in a Czech translation: Little Bulgarian from Alaska, Българи 2011; Niki- Nikola, Casablanca and How to write haiku, Plav 2014/č.1; Little town Mendocino from the book Which way the wind is blowing. Anthology of short stories from Southeast Europe. Praha: Univerzita Karlova, 2016, s. 38-43). He was awarded several international prizes in foreign countries and his stories were translated into several foreign languages (he achieved a great success e.g. in Austria where Zirkus Bulgarien, Geschichten für eine Zigarettenlänge. Wien: Zsolnay Verlag, 2008; was published in German. His books were also published in the United Kingdom and Norway. In his works Dejan Enev is close to the most famous classical writers of Bulgarian short stories (e.g. to Jordan Jovkov), as well as to writers of this genre in world literature (he endorses himself to the legacy of Isaak Babel or Jerome David Salinger). In the context of Bulgarian literature he is considered as the leading successor of the home storytelling tradition in the field of short fiction...
Chrematonyms in contemporary Bulgarian, Czech and Slovak language

This thesis is aimed to describe and analyze the names of the restaurants which belong in the group of chrematonyms in the Bulgarian, Czech and Slovak language areas. There have been traditional names of companies in the all three language areas. However, after 1990 we expect the changes in the company name formation. The material we are working with is classified according to lexical motivation into the several motivation types. Our analyses based on the form and content of the names of restaurants. We particularly expect neologisms and anglicisms in the analyzed language areas as there is a strong impact of language globalization. Our evaluation is supported by the quantitative analyses of the company names. We follow the classification of Slovak company names by M.Imrichová. Then we compare and contrast our observations with the tendencies seen by M. Imrichová.
