Violin Concertos by J. Sibelius and B. Bartok No. 2 - interpretations of Isaac Stern, Gil Shaham and Viktoria Mullova

This diploma thesis is focused on comparison of performance styles of three world class violinists – Isaac Stern, Gil Shaham and Viktoria Mullova. This comparison is achieved by a detailed analysis of interpretation of two selected violin concertos of different characteristics. From individual details we shall conclude overall violin performance characteristics of individual violinists. The thesis consists of three chapters. The first one deals with brief autobiography of the composers and violinists. The topic of the second chapter is a comparison of actual interpretation of violin concert by Jean Sibelius, the third one compares the interpretation of Bartok’s second violin concert.
Violin concertos by P.I.Tchaikovsky and D. Shostakovich NO.1 - Interpretations of David Oistrakh, Maxim Vengerov and Vadim Repin.

The goal of this thesis is describing specifics of plays of David Oistrakh, Maxim Vengerov and Vadim Repin.The celements, which are characteristic for these violinists, are described in the analysis of interpretations of Violin Concertos by P.I.Tchaikovsky and D. Shostakovich. The thesis has three chapters. In first chapter I write about lifes and works of these composers and about situations at the times, when they lived. Second chapter includes comparing of playing Violin Concertos by Tchaikovsky, third chapter contains describing interpretations of first Violin Concerto by Shostakovuch.
