The deserted glassworks in Milovy (district of Žďár nad Sázavou). A contribution to research on postmedieval glassmaking in Českomoravská vrchovina

The main aim of the thesis was to summarize findings of the glassmaking in the central part of Českomoravská vrchovina and to complete current archaeological findings by the surface research of the deserted glassworks in Milovy (District of Žďár nad Sázavou). The thesis is based on the archaeological findings, written sources, toponomastics and iconography. The catalogue of the well-preserved products from the glassworks in Milovy is the inseparable part of the thesis. The products in catalogue are deposited in Horácké městské muzeum v Novém Městě na Moravě a Městské muzeum a galerie v Poličce.

The problematics of medieval baths in Prague is very comprehensive, for understanding we have to begin in ancient history spa, the evolution of barber guild and complete hierarchy of this handicraft. In all history are barbers standing on the edge of society, and they tried to change it. Very important role of barbers was they role as healers. Most informations about baths and spa are from illustrations, which shows us also the equipment of public spa. Part of this equipment is also in archeological sources. Archaeological Evidence of Pottery from Truhlářská Street in Prague

This thesis deals with archaeological evidence of medieval pottery products which were discovered during the emergency archaeological excavation in the area of former Jiřího z Poděbrad barracks on Náměstí Republiky square in Prague. This area is nowadays called Palladium shopping centre. The first part of the thesis deals with real findings. These are construction debris of burning kilns and historical evolution of its construction. The second part of the thesis compares results of excavation with historical datas. The last part of the thesis evaluates the extraordinarily huge file of ceramic artefacts from waste areas, especially defective pieces which complement the picture of medieval pottery production.

The material culture of Prague Castle in the Early Modern period in light of archaeological finds Gabriela Blažková Abstract The main goal of this work was to introduce Early Modern finds of material culture from Prague Castle. Preliminary is presented definition of post-medieval - Early Modern period and Early Modern pottery. An overview of the studies published on the Early Modern period with an emphasis on finds of material culture, especially pottery and glass from Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia is following. Prague Castle in the Early Modern Period chapter provides a summary of the historical and building development of Prague Castle during the 16th and 17th centuries. The emphasis is placed on introducing the social composition of Prague Castle residents in the Early Modern period in the chapters Historical Images of Prague Castle and Historical Plan Documentation are presented the oldest images of Prague Castle and plan documentation of the castle. Crux of dissertation work is in the analysis of material culture. Step by step I analyzed seven cesspits and one waste feature from Prague Castle. Maximum attention was paid to the pottery component of find assemblages. A unified scheme was maintained for the analyses of individual cesspits. Jarkovice and Zejbišský dvůr - examples of two settlement patterns in the Bohemian forest

V předkládané práci se budu věnovat dvěma vzájemně nedalekým lokalitám v Pošumaví, larkovicím a Zejbišslému dvoru. Bude rozdělena do dvou částí, první, která se snaží na základě literatury charakterizovat tuto část Šumavy ajejí osídlení jako celek, a část druhou, která bude prezentovat lokality a nově objevené situace na nich. larkovice představují zajímavý příklad zaniklé vrcholně středověké hornicko - zemědělské vísky v extrémní poloze, po jejímž zániku na místě vznikla v 16. století skelná huť, ze které se do dnešních dnů uchovaly pozoruhodné relikty. Zejbišský dvůr je unikátně dochovaným králováckým dvorcem, jemuž podobné tvořily od 16. století základ osídlení specifické oblasti Královského hvozdu. I zde, ve stejné době jako v larkovicích, fungovala skelná huť. Dnes se však zdá být osud dvora zpečetěn, objekty jsou v dezolátním stavu, nejstarší obytné části hrozí zřícení, jasné je, že zimu 2008/2009 zastřešení a některé klenby nepřežijí. To bylo podnětem dokumentace dvora, prospekcí v okolí a tím pádem i vzniku celé práce.
Stove tiles with Hussite and reformation motivs

This text deals with stove tiles with so called Hussite and Reformation motifs in the Czech lands. These tiles are an example of Gothic and Renaissance tiles . The collection of fragments presented in this thesis was found mainly in localities in Bohemia. Only two examples from Moravia have been documented. The entire collection is first analyzed from the iconographic perspective. Afterwards, a cluster of core motives that indicates Utraquistic origin of the fragments was delimited. Fragments collected mainly from catalogues of museums collections and documented thematic finding are presented. However, some new fragments which were never documented before are part of the collection as well.
