Evaluation of Relations with Some Countries

In November survey people have evaluated relations of Czech Republic with some neighbouring or globally most important countries: Slovakia (94 % good / 4 % bad), Poland (89 % / 6 %), USA (87 % / 9 %), Germany (87 % / 11 %), UK (83 % / 6 %), France (83 % / 8 %), Hungary (83 % / 7 %), Austria (67 %, 29 %), Russia (39 % / 52 %) and China (37 % / 40 %).
Evaluation of some social conditions in the Czech Republic - October 2008

From all social conditions included in the survey people evaluate mostly positively only the accessibility of education (80 % positively, 13 % critically) and the health care (63 % : 35 %). All other monitored areas of social conditions - i.e. a chance to get a flat (24 % positively, 73 % critically), financial situation to start a family with children (24 % : 72 %), social security for the elderly (14 % : 76 %), life conditions for the handicapped (18 % : 68 %) and a chance to get a job (44 % : 53 %) - are evaluated largely critically.
Citizens on Economic Situation of Their Households - October 2008

In October survey CVVM SOÚ AV ČR examined how Czech citizens see the financial situation of their households. They evaluated whether it is difficult to manage with their earnings, but also talked about attitudinal feeling of poverty. 6 % of citizens indicated their household to be rich, whilst 28 % consider it to be poor. Almost two thirds of respondents (65 %) regard their household as neither rich nor poor. Problems with current budget of their household were stated by 54 % of respondents, on the other hand 43 % said they have no problems with budget of the household. 94 % of households have income that is sufficient to purchase food, clothes or usual household goods, 59 % have enough money for their hobbies and hobbies of their family members, 42 % can afford to buy high quality (and more expensive) foodstuff, 43 % can save some money and 30 % can support household of their parents or children.

According to October survey of CVVM SOÚ AV ČR 66 % of Czech citizens did not agree with planned deployment of U.S. anti-missile radar in Czech Republic, on the other hand 27 % of respondents would approve it. 71 % respondents expressed their opinion that this question should be decided in a referendum, 20 % of Czechs disagreed with holding a plebiscite in this matter. People who are against the referendum are for the most part supporters of idea to locate the U.S. anti-missile radar in Czech Republic.

According to September survey of CVVM 50 % of Czech citizens were concerned with events related to recent conflict of Georgia and Russia due to South Ossetia. Majority of Czechs disagrees with both Georgia's military attack against South Ossetia as well as with Russian reaction.

June survey of CVVM was dealing with a situation related to recent unilateral declaration of independence of Serbian province of Kosovo and with diplomatic recognition of independent Kosovo by the government of Czech Republic. 30 % of Czech citizens agree with the May decision of Topolanek's government to recognize Kosovo as an independent state, 31 % disagrees and 39 % is undecided in this matter.
