The linguistic analysis of Glagolitic Mass in New Church Slavonic

The thesis paper is devoted to phonetic analysis of the Glagolitic Missal which was compiled by Vojtěch Tkadlčík. The attention is mainly paid to the differences between Glagolian sounding and the Latin transcription of the text. In the introduction of the paper the Czech type of the New Church Slavonic language is characterised and the structure of the Glagolitic Missal is presented. In the main part of the paper, which is based on the work with analysed texts, some phonetic phenomena and graphic specialities of the New Church Slavonic of the Czech type are described. Examples illustrate the places where Tkadlčík draw from the phonetics of South Slavonic languages or Eastern Slavonic languages and where he tried to make the text sound genuinely Czech. In the conclusion of the paper characteristic traits of the New Church Slavonic language of the Czech type are summarized.

Problems of Czech Church Slavonic hagiography: Church Slavonic legend of St. Anastasia

The dissertation analyses the Church Slavonic Legend oj St Anastasia published for the first time by A. 1. Sobolevskij in 1903. The first editor himself assumed a Czech origin for the legend, because of some signs. The legend has not been systematically analysed since. Because some writers do not consider the Czech milieu as a likely source of some monuments we inc1uded the problems of Church Slavonic hagiography of Czech Origin into the outline of exploration of Church Slavonic monuments of Czech Origin whose part the legend of St Anastasia forms. In the Introduction chapter we give a sketch of the state of exploration of Czech Church Slavonic monuments. One of the basic types of questions connected to these monuments is proving their attribution. It inc1udes a broad array of linguistic, theoreticalliterary as well as extra-linguistic questions. In the subsequent exposition we evaluated the basic existential conditions for Church Slavonic literature in Přemyslid Bohemia. V. Tkadlčík's essay Otázka kontinuity slovanské bohoslužby v přemyslovských Čechách is one of the works presupposing a continuity of Slavonic literary tradition and liturgy in Přemyslid Bohemia. On Lexical Evidence in the Old Church Slavonic Legend of Saint Anastasia

This study evaluates the lexical character of the Church Slavonic Legend of Saint Anastasia. The analysis of the text results in discovering a high affinity (concordances) of lexical items of this legend with Old Church Slavonic texts of the Czech origin. The conclusions submitted by this paper are important for answering questions concerning the origin of this legend (the place and the time of birth).

Old Church Slavonic and Church Slavonic vsemogy

The paper deals with the question of stratification of Old Church Slavonic and Church Slavonic vocabulary in time and space. Using the example of the word vsemogy author confront static (i.e. genetic) approach of J. Schaeken and I. Wiehl with facts in individual manuscripts of Old Church Slavonic and Church Slavonic.
