Körblerová, Jana ; Kordulová, Pavla (advisor) ; Maffei Svobodová, Ludmila (referee)
Tracheostomy is a mutilating procedure and It may be a source of physical, psychological and social trauma for the patient. An average of 170 permanent tracheostomies per year are performed in the Czech Republic. In the theoretical part I focused on species, indications and complications of tracheostomy and tracheostomy cannulas. I also described a complex care of a patient with the permanent tracheostomy including education. I drew on information from the available materials of the Czech Society of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery of the ČLS JEP, from guidelines of the Australian Agency for Clinical Innovation Chatswood and The Royal Children's Hospital Melbourne. My other resources of information were BMC, EBSCO, ProQuest, Medline databases. In the case study, I described the nursing and educational process in the patient who underwent total laryngectomy surgery, from admission to dismiss. The case study includes an assessment of the patient's health status according to Majory Gordon's functional health model. I got all the information from an interview with a patient, from medical records, and from the provision of nursing care. Methods: The case study of the patient after the total laryngectomy surgery including the model of functional health, according to Majory Gordon. Aim of the...
Influence of bariatric surgery on the physical and mental state of the patient
Fořtová, Tereza ; Maffei Svobodová, Ludmila (advisor) ; Pucholtová, Romana (referee) ; Kulhavá, Miluše (referee)
1) INTRODUCTION: Obesity is a global problem and its the prevalence is constantly rising. Overweight and obesity are key risk factors for many diseases. Obese patients are a greater economic burden for the state, they often rely on the help of others. The goal of obesity treatment is to reduce weight and then keep it within the recommended range. In an obese patient, it is not always just about the actual weight loss, but also about treating the associated diseases caused by obesity. Bariatric surgery allows patients to lose weight in a relatively short period of time and has a very positive effect on associated diseases. 2) OBJECTIVE: The aim of this diploma thesis was to evaluate the physical and mental condition before and after gastric bypass and to determine whether this surgery has a positive or negative effect on the physical and mental condition of the patient. The objective was further divided into sub-goals and hypotheses. 3) METHODOLOGY: The research was carried out using a quantitative method. This is an observational study, in which the mental and physical condition and advancement of patients who were about to undergo bariatric surgery - gastric bypass - were monitored for 6 months. Mental status was monitored using four standardized questionnaires: MAF, HADS, iADL, SF-36 in four time...

Beranová, Petra ; Maffei Svobodová, Ludmila (advisor) ; Dynáková, Šárka (referee)
(v AJ) Introduction: The literature indicates that progressive aging of the population leads to increasing number of elderly patients with chronic kidney failure, initiating long-term dialysis treatment. ERA - EDTA (European Renal Association - European Dialysis and Transplant Association was issued in 2016 for treatment of elderly patients with advanced kidney disease. For easier orientation in the issue to withold or withdraw from dialysis therapy recommendations have been made in 2010 Renal Physicians Association (RPA). The issue of chronic kidney disease is also dealt with nurses organization The European Dialysis and Transplant Nurses Association/European Renal Care Association (EDTNA/ERCA). Aim: The aim of this research was to point out the reasons, for which patients with chronic kidney failure decide to withold or withdraw from dialysis therapy. Methodology: The thesis was performed through a qualitative research. Data were collected by individual guided interviews. The research sample included five participants. Four individuals decided to withold or withdraw from dialysis therapy and were further followed in the pre-dialysis nephrology outpatient clinic. One participant, who initially had started dialysis therapy acutely, later repeatedly stopped it and started it again with the...

Nursing process hemodialysed patient
Šmajda, Dávid ; Kordulová, Pavla (advisor) ; Maffei Svobodová, Ludmila (referee)
Chronic renal failure is often asymptomatic and painless. Many sick people realize too late that something is happening with their body or kidney function. In renal failure, a complex metabolic disorder arises and water and electrolyte imbalances occur. Unfortunately, this phenomenon is irreversible and a large number of patients must subsequently undergo hemodialysis treatment, which only substitutes kidney work, but does not heal the kidneys themselves. Hemodialysis is currently one of the most widespread methods of renal replacement. Thanks to continuous technological development, it extends the life of patients by several decades and thus improves their lives with chronic kidney disease. The bachelor thesis describes the issue of nursing care of patients included in the hemodialysis program. In the theoretical part of the thesis I describe the issue of chronic renal insufficiency. Furthermore, I focus on the elimination methods of this disease and the necessary vascular approaches for hemodialysis for these patients. In my work I also describe the specifics of nursing care for patients in the hemodialysis program. I have elaborated the thesis on the basis of searching for relevant sources for the given issue. I drew on resources from the National Medical Library, where literature searches were...

Holečková, Barbora ; Kulířová, Veronika (advisor) ; Maffei Svobodová, Ludmila (referee)
Bipolar disorder is a very serious mental disorder defined by mood swing of pathological nature. It is a chronic disorder, which strongly affects daily life of the patient. Its negative effects can impinge personal relationships and ones performance at work. According to WHO the bipolar disorder is the sixth in the list of main causes leading to lifelong disability. Altering between manic and depressive periods is very difficult, not only for the patient, but for the attending staff as well. In my thesis I will give a thorough characterization of the disorder. Theoretical findings on the topic were acquired via carefully done research in National Library of Medicine and via databases PubMed, Medline, Embase and Medvik. Theoretical part of the thesis is also enhanced with testimonies of actual patients with bipolar disorder. Their stories were acquired via books, research papers and internet discussion forums. I will proceed to refer about specific features of nursing practice based on particular case study of 65 years old patient with bipolar disorder. Medical staff has to aid the patient both during the manic and depressive periods while being greatly attentive. It is necessary to carefully observe behavior of the patient, their verbal and nonverbal communication in order to prevent unsolicited...
The Awareness of South Bohemian Public about Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
Mikšíčková, Věra ; Vrábelová, Petra (advisor) ; Maffei Svobodová, Ludmila (referee)
INTRODUCTION: One of the most frequent causes of sudden death in Europe is a sudden cardiac arrest. First above all providing urgent cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is necessary for rescue of life. One of preconditions of successful resuscitation is its early start and knowledge of basic techniques. The level of knowledge of urgent resuscitation techniques, its proper performance, skillfulness and willingness of non-professional rescuers can decide about next life of people affected by sudden cardiac arrest. Every minute that the resuscitation is not performed a chance of survival of people affected with sudden cardiac arrest decreases by 10 - 12%. GOALS AND METHODOLOGY: The main research problem was an evaluation of the level of knowledge of techniques of cardio-pulmonary resuscitation with public in South Bohemia. The next goal was to map the interest of the public in South Bohemia in education in CPR. For working out of the empirical part the method of quantitative research was chosen in the form of a questionnaire which I made. The questionnaire contained 35 questions. The research sample was made of nonselected public in South Bohemia and the choice of informants was random. The collection of data was performed by direct questioning of passers-by in streets, shopping centres, in towns and...

Paliative Nursing Care of the Patient with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease
Kubíčková, Tereza ; Lukášová Jeřábková, Lenka (advisor) ; Maffei Svobodová, Ludmila (referee)
Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) is very rare disease (estimated incidence is one case for one million people per year), which nature is uncontrollable reproduction of infectious prion protein in brain tissue. In some cases, the disease might have long incubation time but then very fast progression and in all cases, it ends with death. Nowadays we do not know curative treatment and the patient depends only on palliative treatment. The main goal of my Thesis is to describe a nursing care of a patient with this disease and to emphasize the importance of the palliative care. Partial goal is to describe disease progression (clinical condition of the patient) from the admission to the hospice until the end of her life (total of 27 days) and to increase knowledge about this disease among the medical staff. I also set a goal to find out specifics of care of patients with this disease. The Thesis is written as case report of a specific patient with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. The methodology for case report is detailed study of patient's medical documentation in the hospice and cooperation with nursing staff and doctors. Based on the case report I can state that palliative care does not differ a lot for varied diseases of patients, however for patients with CJD the specific is the preventive use of...
