The theoretical part focuses on intensive care, importance of the family for critically ill patient, needs of family members and communication with them in field of intensive care, as well as need of social support. It gives us information of actual researches focused on needs of families in intensive care field, throughout Czech republic as well as abroad. The empirical part combines quantitative with qualitative research. In intention of this thesis was used standardised questionaire FIN (Family Inventory Needs), what was set on base of CCFNI (Critical Care Family Inventory Needs) questionaire.
