Problems of Czech Church Slavonic hagiography: Church Slavonic legend of St. Anastasia

The dissertation analyses the Church Slavonic Legend oj St Anastasia published for the first time by A. 1. Sobolevskij in 1903. The first editor himself assumed a Czech origin for the legend, because of some signs. The legend has not been systematically analysed since. Because some writers do not consider the Czech milieu as a likely source of some monuments we inc1uded the problems of Church Slavonic hagiography of Czech Origin into the outline of exploration of Church Slavonic monuments of Czech Origin whose part the legend of St Anastasia forms. In the Introduction chapter we give a sketch of the state of exploration of Czech Church Slavonic monuments. One of the basic types of questions connected to these monuments is proving their attribution. It inc1udes a broad array of linguistic, theoreticalliterary as well as extra-linguistic questions. In the subsequent exposition we evaluated the basic existential conditions for Church Slavonic literature in Přemyslid Bohemia. V. Tkadlčík's essay Otázka kontinuity slovanské bohoslužby v přemyslovských Čechách is one of the works presupposing a continuity of Slavonic literary tradition and liturgy in Přemyslid Bohemia. Czech translations of the First Old Slavonic legend of St. Wenceslas

The diploma thesis deals with the issues of translation in modern Czech of the First Old Slavonic Legend of St. Wenceslas. The first chapter summarizes basic information on this unique literary work and on individual editions preserved until today. The second chapter describes all translations of the Legend into Czech and outlines the main problems applicable to each of them. The third chapter compares individual translation versions with respect to their main stylistic features and general translation methodologies applied. The concluding fourth chapter analyses the translation of selected passages of the text with unclear passages translated differently as their uniform interpretation is still missing.

Influence of Latin on Croatian Glagolitic monuments. The translation method of ablative absolute in the Croatian Glagolitic rule of Saint Benedict

This work tries to analyze the translation method of the Latin ablative absolute in the Croatian Glagolitic version of the Rule of Saint Benedict. Besides the concrete analysis, the work presents basic information about The Rule of Saint Benedict, translations of this important literary work from Latin in other European languages, editions of the Croatian Glagolitic translation and about most important studies on this text. The Latin ablative absolute and Old Church Slavonic dative absolute, which corresponds to absolute construction in Latin, are also briefly elaborated. The conclusion contains short classification and evaluation of all analysed material, including the list of all examples of ablative absolute that were found in the original text of The Rule of Saint Benedict with their equivalents in Croatian Glagolitic translation.
