Otřísal, Gabriel ; Skopeček, Jan (advisor) ; Svoboda, Miroslav (referee)
This paper is dedicated to the first currency crisis in the Czech republic, which took place in 1997. It analyses the period perceding crisis, the development of the very crisis and its impacts. The main aim of this paper is to identify the crisis' roots and to map them. On this ground it consequently forms a hypothesis, that with a different mix of monetary and fiscal policy, nonexecution of currency interventions or with a sooner abandonment of the pegged exchange rate, we could have witnessed a different scenario. The paper is also complemented by a binary model of currency crisis prediction and an interview with a participant of the 1997' events.

Constitutional Analysis of the Lisbon Treaty
Zelenka, Jaroslav ; Hudík, Marek (advisor) ; Skopeček, Jan (referee)
This work applies the constitutional analysis method on the evaluation of the EU constitutional setting's change after the possible approval of the Lisbon Treaty. We will focus on the part of the Treaty that has an impact on the character of the legislation connected with commodity taxation. Specifically, we will analyze the change of the voting rules of the Council and the change of the constitutional cognizance of the Council. After we draw the parallel between the Council and the revenue-maximizing Leviathan, we will be able to advocate for the conclusion of our analysis which is that the base and rates of the commodity taxation will change to the disadvantage of the taxpayer after the approval of the Treaty.

Wachal, Ondřej ; Skopeček, Jan (advisor) ; Čermáková, Klára (referee)
My bachelor thesis is analyzing the current retirement system in The Czech republic. I attempt to analyze and examine its main problems, and to decide whether the system is sustainable concerning above all the demographic development in this country. The paper also suggests several alternative ways of financing retirement and it evaluates their applicability in the conditions of The Czech republic. The analysis of the specific retirement reform system proposed by the current government of The Czech republic follows. I also outline several different scenarios which could be implemented in case the suggested reform would not be carried out. The main goal of my bachelor thesis is to answer the question, whether a reform of the current retirement system is inevitable, together with presenting alternative ways to solve the problem of retirement system reform. The conslusion of my final paper consists of analysis of these alternative solutions and a suggestion of the most appropriate one for the conditions of The Czech republic.
New Deal
