Variabilityin egg shell pigmentation of great tit clutches
Kratochvílová, Anna ; Svobodová, Jana (advisor) ; Veronika, Veronika (referee)
Eggshell coloration in bird clutches shows a striking variability within species which has not yet been fully explained. Its character is determined by the deposition of two main pigments: blue-green biliverdin is responsible for the background colour while brown-red protoporphyrin is associated with the dark spot pattern. Considering the role and matabolism of these two pigments in the avian organism it was suggested that they might have an important impact on the oxidative stress levels and their deposition into the eggshell is therefore suggested to possibly reflect the body condition of laying females during the laying periods. This is also the basic assumption for the signalling hypothesis of eggshell coloration which predicts the eggshell appearance to reflect the female body condition and individual health status or directly indicate aenemia in birds (aenemic hypothesis). Here it was tested whether there is a relationship between parameters representing the body condition of female great tits (Parus major) and the characteristics of protoporphyrin maculation of their eggs. Female body condition was expressed by standardized body weight and the selected haematological parameters (heterophil to lymphocyte ratio and relative immature erythrocyte counts). Eggshell coloration was characterized by spot colour (hue, saturation and brightness), spot counts and the reflectance of the background colour. It was found that females with higher heterophil to lymphocyte ratio laid eggs with more spots and higher reflectance of the background colour in some nesting seasons. Eggs with more spots on its surface were also laid by females with higher immature erythrocyte counts. These results suggest that more intensive deposition of protoporfyring into the eggsell can indicate worse body condition of the laying females. On the other hand, it was also found that heavier females laid eggs with lower reflectance of the background colour. Despite this discrepancy, these results are not inconsistent with the pressumptions of the signalling hypothesis and they partially support the aenemia hypothesis. However, the above mentioned dependencies were inconsistent among the nesting seasons, indicating that further important determinants must be considered in the avian eggshell coloration.
Security of Web Portals in Public Administration
Rašín, Petr ; Tyrychtr, Jan (advisor) ; Veronika, Veronika (referee)
The thesis is concerned with the issues of web portals security which are operated by the public sector in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part describes the basic terms and principles of public administrative with an emphasis on the computerization of the public administrative (or so called the eGovernment). In connection with the cybernetic security act there are described the standards of the information security management system ISO/IEC27001 and ISO/IEC27002 and the current OWASP methodology, which is focused on the area of web application´s security. Furthermore there is formulated the specific methodology of testing the web portal´s security of municipalities in the Czech Republic, the identification of weaknesses and interpretation of the ascertained outcomes. The methodology is verified within the case study of web portal´s security testing of particular municipalities. The established outcomes are documented, evaluated and the owners of web portals are given the recommendations to improve the level of their application´s security.
Project Management and its Application in Selected Company
Škoda, Martin ; Fejfarová, Martina (advisor) ; Veronika, Veronika (referee)
This diploma thesis topic is project management and its application in selected company. The main objective of this thesis is to evaluate the level of project management in the selected company Volkswagen Financial Services Ltd. and in the case of deficiencies, propose appropriate measures. The thesis is divided into two parts, the theoretical and the practical. The theoretical part was created by the processing of secondary sources. These sources were mainly literature supplemented by Internet resources dealing with the topic. Own work deals with the characteristics of the company and its project management. On the selected project was shown to the functioning of project management at Volkswagen Financial Services Ltd. Data collection for the development of their work was to study the documents of the company freely available on the Internet or provided by the company. Another source of data were personal interviews with company employees, mainly project managers and observing the functioning of company. In the next part of the thesis is an assessment analysis of project management. It is also suggested several recommendations in the functioning of project management in companies. These measures should improve the functioning of project management in companies.
The Effect of Environmental Contamination on Quality of Leafy Vegetables
Jančíková, Silvie ; Pavlíková, Daniela (advisor) ; Veronika, Veronika (referee)
Heavy metals are widely distributed throughout the environment, but environment can be contaminated by these elements originated from anthropogenic activities. These toxic elements can be taken up by plant. Heavy metals accumulation and their uptake by plants depend on plant species, plant growing period, part of plant, soil characteristics (content of organic matters, physical chemical properties), interactions between metals etc. High concentrations of metal ions in plants can result in metabolic stress and so the plant metabolic stress mechanism can be induced : organic acids exudation, heavy metals binding in cell walls, phytochelatins synthesis etc. In case, that various protective mechanisms against toxic elements are not successful, heavy metals cause the damage to plant metabolism. This is indicated by changes in the contents of amino acids and fatty acids, enzymatic changes, inhibition of yield of aboveground biomass, chlorosis of leaves. There is an important difference between Zn and the other elements. Zn is an essential micronutrient and its content in contrast to the other elements without biological function is less toxic for plants. Vegetables are rich sources of essentials nutrients and heavy metals can significantly affect their quality. The consumption of contaminated vegetables may result in negative effects on nutritional composition. Leafy vegetables have relatively higher concentrations and transfer factors of heavy metals in contrast to root and fruit vegetables. There is the high health risk to consume the vegetable which is exposure to heavy metal polluted environment. The majority of European agricultural soils is safe for food production, but the areas with the high population density (China) have level of contamination which present ecological and health risk. For this reason many studies have focused on crop accumulation of heavy metals in such areas.
Managerial competencies
Lundáková, Sára ; Fejfarová, Martina (advisor) ; Veronika, Veronika (referee)
The diploma thesis is focused on the topic of managerial competencies and competency models, as a particular combination of competencies that are necessary for the effective performance of the work. Managerial competencies are in this thesis specifically focused on the competencies of the project manager. The aim of the diploma thesis is based on an analysis to identify the competencies of the project manager and on this basis to develop generic competency model of project manager. The theoretical basis of the work is focused mainly on the issues of the concept of competence, the development, use and types of competencies. Further are processed concepts of the area of managerial competencies and project management on the basis of literature and Internet resources on this topic. Own part is based on analysis of documents, which is the basis for compiling the survey, whose result is a list of selected competencies important for work as a project manager. Based on the list of important competencies is compiled generic competency model project manager. In conclusion summarizes the results from own part.
