Metaphor in Czech sign language
Šůchová, Lucie ; Vaňková, Irena (advisor) ; Nebeská, Iva (referee)
Problem of metaphors in Czech Sign Language is handled from a cognitive linguistic approach to language point of view, especially in term of the conceptual metaphor theory, which was formulated by Lakoff and Johnson. The explanation of specifics of the iconic and metaphoric mapping in signed languages is based on recent theoretical works dealing with American Sign Language. Principles of metaphors behavior in signed languages are illustrated on many metaphoric linguistic expressions from Czech Sign Language, which realize eight conventionally conceptual metaphors - (1) orientational metaphors: MORE IS UP, GOOD IS UP, POWERFUL IS UP, THE FUTURE IS AHEAD, THE PAST IS BEHIND, (2) ontological metaphors: MIND IS A CONTAINER, IDEA S ARE OBJECTS and (3) structural metaphor: COMMUNICATION IS SENDING.
Compounds in the Czech sign language
Mladová, Pavlína ; Macurová, Alena (advisor) ; Šůchová, Lucie (referee)
The present bachelor's thesis analyzes compounds in the Czech sign language. Introductory chapters present a brief summary of word-formation in Czech, of compound types in Czech and the principles of formation of new signs in the Czech sign language. For the purposes of this work, the author made excerpts of Czech sign language compounds from a selected sample of print and electronic dictionaries of the Czech sign language, on the basis of which she described the nature of different types of compounds in the Czech sign language (spoken language-affected compounds vs. true compounds; subordinate and coordinate compounds; sequential, simultaneous and sequential-simultaneous compounds). Also, a part of this work presents a study on phonological processes in sequential compounds that occur during the articulation.

Bartošová, Helena ; Macurová, Alena (advisor) ; Šůchová, Lucie (referee)
The main topic of this bachelor work are prepositions in written Czech of Czech Deaf people. In the theoretical part of the work I have tried to define the problem of using correct prepositions in Czech language and I have focused only on the localisation category of prepositions such as a next to, on, above, in front of and between. I have shown (by examples) how Czech language, Czech sign language and Signed czech express the spatial relationships. I have focused on mistakes in using of correct prepositions in written texts of the American Deaf people and the Czech Deaf people and I have noticed that the both groups have significant problems in use of prepositions. Then I have compared czech textbooks for hearing impared pupils and for the foreign learners of Czech language. The practical part of the work brings new information about the situation of written Czech of the hearing impared pupils and could be used as a basic material for closer analysis of this topic and further research. I have worked out two researches whose results you can see in this part of the work also. My informants were pupils of the seventh, eighth and ninth grade of the primary school for the hearing impared in Prague-Radlice. The aim of the first research was to discover, whether the pupils are able to create a gramatically...
