Dynamic competitive balance of the highest football leagues in selected European countries

Title: Dynamic competitive balance of the highest football leagues in selected European countries. Objectives: The main objective of the thesis is to identify the dynamic competitive balance in the first and second leagues in selected European countries and to outline their development trend. The first sub-objective of the thesis is to compare the dynamic competitive balance of the investigated competitions with each other. The second sub-objective of the thesis is to compare the results of dynamic competitive balance with those obtained by the static method of competitive balance. Methods: This thesis calculates dynamic competiitve balance using the Pearson correlation coefficient. Results: The results show that the first leagues are usually less balanced than the second highest leagues. The result also shows that the first leagues reports an increasing tendency of competitive imbalance. The only exception is the top Polish league. On the other hand, most of the second leagues reports a decreasing tendency of competitive imbalance. The exceptions are the second Spanish and Polish leagues. The Portuguese second league appears to be the most evenly balanced competition, followed by the Spanish second league. The least balanced leagues are the First Dutch League and the First English League....
