A Diachronic-synchonic Analysis of Anglicisms in Selected Periodicals Author: Bc. Lenka Kotvová Supervisor: PhDr. Dalibor Zeman, Ph.D. Pages: 144 The thesis deals with the issue of anglicisms in the German language, being based on the research of their presence in selected periodicals. In the theoretical part the individual linguistic terms are explained. Further, a brief, retrospective overview of the influences on German language is presented. Into focus comes the one these days most widely spread: the influence of English. Contrastive reactions to this phenomenon of both professional and lay public are introduced and attention is also drawn to the comparison of possible benefits and danger of the use of anglicisms. The practical part consists in own research, which comprehensively parses five selected periodicals in the terms of the presence of anglicisms. Both the quantitative and qualitative characteristics are examined and put through diachronic and synchronic comparison. The position of the Prague journal(pražské listy)in the structure of czech press in the latesixties of the 19.century
Tůma, Ondřej ; Sekera, Martin (advisor) ; Krejcar, Robert (referee)
The main aim of my diploma thesis is to determine the position of newspaper called Pražský denník in context to other Czech newspapers of the second half of the sixties of the 19th century. That time was the period which represented the essential changes in development of the modern society and politics in Czech lands. Simultaneously, it is the period when the political journalism started to form. The activity of Pražský denník has not been studied in any research yet. This periodical is considered to be biased and insolvent because it is usually included into official pro- government newspapers. Such evaluation of this newspaper is done without any deeper content analysis. The interpretation of the Czech journalism, which is mainly focused on the effect of opposite newspaper (e.g. Národní listy) and had the main effect on the Czech national movement, does not pay attention to Pražský denník at all. Considering the fact that Pražský denník was published in cargo of 20 000 pieces we should not omit evaluating of this newspaper according to its effect on reader of that time. In my diploma thesis, I would like to focus on the content analysis of Pražský denník and to analyze the thematic composition and territorial focus of individual articles. My interest is also concentrated on the measure and...

Czech Periodical Press in Region off Cheb in Years 1945
Dlouhá, Petra ; Köpplová, Barbara (advisor) ; Krejcar, Robert (referee)
The main aim of my diploma thesis is to capture the development of the periodic press in Cheb after the end of the Second World War. It is a period which brought extensive demographic and socio-economic changes to Czechoslovakia and especially the border regions. That is why this topic must be set in a wider context. At the beginning, I describe the history of the Cheb region, which, from its earliest history, had a distinct position within our country. I also researched the general issue of Czech-German relations after the foundation of the independent Czechoslovak Republic. A chapter in the thesis deals specifically with what happened during the Second World War in Cheb. The main emphasis is however on the first months in the Cheb region after the war. The reason for this is that it was a period of essential reversal in Cheb. Everything that used to be German was now to become Czech. It was essential for the newcomers to receive information in their mother tongue. The core of the thesis is the development of the Czech regional press in the Cheb region. In the year 1945 there only was a single journal published in Cheb - Chebsko. My thesis will present this journal, which first came out shortly after the end of the Second World War. I will also make a quantitative analysis of the first publishing...

Tungová, Lenka ; Köpplová, Barbara (advisor) ; Švec, Štefan (referee)
Diploma thesis "Vạn Xuân" - Ten thousand springs: Vietnamese journal in Czech republic deals not only with the magazine itself, but also with the Vietnamese press in Czech Republic in general. It is impossible to study Vietnamese press in Czech Republic without historical knowledge about this community on Czech territory. Hence, in the first part of this paper, the Vietnamese migration is fully explained. The aim of this work is to find out, how magazine Vạn Xuân reflects parallel Words in which it works - in Czech majority and Vietnamese minor. It is also important to know the range of information from Vietnam that the journal brings. Since most of Vietnamese do not speak Czech well and can not obtain information from Czech media, Vietnamese magazines are their primary, sometimes the only information source that they have. Thereby, Vietnamese press in Czech Republic has an important role in shaping knowledge and maybe even opinion of its community. Vietnamese community is quite isolated from Czech society, since it is its natural character. However, by and by, it is still more vivid that without adaptation, the Vietnamese community can not adequately exist. It is necessary for them to be conscious about Czech matters of policy, economy, but also culture. Without this consciousness, they can get...

The second part inroduces briefly the Czech cultural policy, employed in the above-mentiod time span, in relation to the examined segment. This part refers to the conceptual base and its consequences for publishing of cultural periodicals. Along with this subject matter, the question of non-governmental subventions and an activity of key endowment funds is raised. The treatise seeks to accentuate a significance of cultural periodicals in the public life and their unsubstitutable position within the political as well as cultural life in its broadest sense.

At the beginning of the year 2020, there was an outbreak of an unknown disease. A new type of coronavirus started to spread across the world and it quickly changed human culture and the life of the entire mankind. In most countries, authorities had to make restrictions to reduce personal contact beetween citiziens and to improve conditions to prevent the spread of the virus among population. For example, theatres, cinemas, restaurants and specialized stores were closed, amateur and professional sport was banned. In the Czech Republic, a resolution was adopted barring all sport organizations from playing and even training in March 2020. An interesting question arose: how would cultural and sports newspapers handle the situation? The media found a way of informing about sports even when no events took place at all. SARS-CoV-2 changed the style of presented content and transformed the entire journalist agenda setting. The bachelor work The coronavirus crises in daily newspaper deník Sport focuses on the first wave of the coronavirus outbreak in the Czech Republic and deník Sport, because it is the only daily sports newspaper in the country. The following pages will address the period from the 1st of January to the 23rd of August. The final of the UEFA Champions League was held on that day and the postponed...
