Paths of inclusion through the eyes of young Vietnamese in Prague

The focus of the bachelor thesis is the investigation of the process of integration of Vietnamese individuals into the Czech environment. The main goal is to get to know the different life paths that young people went through when integrating into Czech society and how they evaluate it in retrospect. The research is conducted qualitatively and focuses on the personal experiences of young Vietnamese people regarding inclusion. By examining the life experiences of these individuals and their families, it provides valuable insight into the process of integration. This research aims to delve into the childhood experiences and integration paths of young Vietnamese individuals living in the Czech Republic. Through in-depth interviews, this study tries to capture their narratives, perceptions and challenges they encountered during their formation in Czech society. Through the perspectives of these individuals, we can gain valuable insights into the intricacies of their cultural upbringing, educational experiences, social interactions, and the overall process of adapting to a foreign environment. Social integration of Ukrainian pupils at schools and social life in the Ctech Republic

The aim of the bachelor thesis is to map the issue of social inclusion of Ukrainian pupils into primary schools and life in the Czech Republic. The thesis includes a theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part, the issue of inclusion of Ukrainian pupils is set in a broader context, i.e. basic concepts and applicable legislation are defined here. It also analyses the causes of consequences of the social disadvantage of Ukrainian pupils which are rooted in the status of their families in the Czech Republic. The attitude of schools and the school system towards this issue is analysed, too. The content of the practical part is a case study. The cases of three Ukrainian pupils and their two families are used to outline the main problems of inclusion of these pupils and families, including methods, procedures and support measures in this difficult and long-term process. Etiology and mechanisms of pathogenesis of congenital neural crest disorders

The neural crest is an extensively migrating population of cells found only in vertebrates. It is formed in the dorsal part of the neural tube during the early embryonic development by a process called neurulation, in which the neural plate forms and the neuroepithelium subsequently sinks into the embryo. Neural crest cells detach during development and then migrate through the body to their final destinations, where they differentiate into various mesenchymal and non-mesenchymal cell types (derivatives) under the influence of signals. These derivatives include tissues of the peripheral nervous system, tissues of the endocrine system, pigment cells, facial bones, and other connective tissues. Defective migration of neural crest cells and disruption of their differentiation leads to maldevelopment of the neural crest cells derivatives, and to development a group of syndromes known as neurocristopathies, which include a wide range of malformations. The aim of this thesis is to summarize the current knowledge about individual neural crest diseases and syndromes such as Hirschsprung's disease, Treacher-Collins syndrome, piebaldism and neurofibromatosis, their causes, mechanisms of pathogenesis and possible treatment options. Ethical issues in multicultural nursing in the context of child Ukrainian war refugees

The diploma thesis deals with the approach of children's nurses to Ukrainian war refugee children requiring intensive oncological care. In nursing care, transcultural-multicultural nursing models are used as an ethical principle. In particular, the models of M. Leiningerová, J.N. Gigerová, and R. Davidhizarová created in the 1950s focus on holistic cultural care, health, and disease manifestations of individuals or groups and respect the common features of cultural values, beliefs, and practices. International Organisation for Migration and African Union and their actions towards sustainable development in East Africa

This thesis focuses on the African Union (AU) and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), analysing their respective roles in implementing sustainable development in East Africa from 2015 to 2020. The essential research questions investigate how international organisations influence the process of socialisation and the acceptance of norms related to climate change, migration, and sustainable development. Furthermore, this research uses concepts of social constructivism, such as the norm cycle and socialisation, and outlines the two organisations approaches to regional actors in East Africa. In this qualitative analysis, a case-study approach is adopted to help understand how different international organisations promote norms related to the same topics in the same region. To conduct the investigation, documents published by both international organisations are examined using critical discourse analysis. The results showed that the International Organisation for Migration draws attention to the positive contribution of migration to sustainable development and the living conditions of migrants. Integration from the child's perspective: Case study of children in the adaptation group for children of foreigners migrating from Ukraine

This diploma thesis focuses on Ukrainian refugee children who came to the Czech Republic due to the war conflict in Ukraine and examines their perspective on integration into the Czech Republic. It discusses the obstacles these children face in integrating into the Czech environment, the position of Ukrainian refugee children in the issue of integration into the Czech Republic, why it is important to consider them as public policy actors, and the contribution of research with children. The theoretical concepts of migration and integration are the mainstays of the thesis, which is specified into the theoretical concept of social integration and its sub-aspects. Furthermore, the thesis uses the foreign model by Häkli and Kallio (2013), which posits the child as an agent in the political process. The practical part of the research includes findings from participant observation in an adaptation group in the non- profit organization Na zámečku Mother Centre in Nové Město nad Metují and is complemented by an interview with a child psychologist from Ukraine.

The instrumentalisation and weaponisation of migrants, its impacts, and how the EU responds: the case of Belarus

This diploma thesis will focus on the weaponisation of migration as a hybrid threat posed to states in an attempt to destabilise their internal systems. The case study of the Poland-Belarus border crisis will be used to examine and illustrate how the European Union can address such hybrid attacks and how this reflects on the notion of the European Union as a 'normative power'. This will be done by conducting a content analysis of relevant news articles from EURACTIV, EUobserver, and POLITICO on the case study and by holding interviews with experts and academics. The notion of the European Union as a normative power will be explored through the lens of realism and neo-realism, focusing on the role of human rights and the European Union's reliance on sanctions. This will help to explore the conclusion that the conceptualisation of the European Union should be more nuanced, making it appear as a civilian power with strong normative foundations in practice rather than a solely normative power.

Expats and the "Wall of Czechness": An Ethnography of Expat Spaces in Prague

This research project explores the notion of spaces and place-making of expat women living in Prague. Using the metaphor of a "wall of Czechness", this paper identifies why perceptions of living in a given space matter, as these perceptions affect how one interacts with the spaces around them. This metaphorical "wall" thus identifies why expat women find and create their own expat communities for socialization in Prague. As such, online platforms, such as Facebook, aid in creating designated women-only spaces, that facilitate both online and offline interactions. This helps in the creation of place-belongingness, especially for expat women who move to Prague on their own account. This work calls attention to the importance of various spaces associated with place-making in this context: safe spaces, private and public spaces, counter-public spaces and gendered spaces. It also highlights the importance of community- creation, and how communities can be understood and created for these expat women living abroad. The term "expat" itself has specific connotations, and whilst they fall under the category of migrants, the two terms hold very different meanings. Israel's population policy

The thesis deals with the population development of Israel in the context of individual population policy measures between 1948-2022. The basic concepts of population policies and theories are anchored in the literature review. Specific measures that have been taken in Israel are also discussed and the issue is placed in a political and historical context. The literature review is followed by an analytical part that examines indicators of fertility, migration and assisted reproduction in the context of Israel's birth and immigration policy. In the conclusion, space is also devoted to the possible future direction of Israel's population policies. In the results of the thesis, the influence of a specific measure on population development is not clear, but the partial connections between Israel's population policy and population development are primarily pointed out. Long-distance migrations of hover flies (Diptera: Syrphidae)

Long-distance migration of insects is well-known phenomenon, studied especially in butterflies and locusts. Until now, the migration of hover flies (Diptera: Syrphidae) was considered a rather marginal issue and not much attention has been given to it. However, billions of hoverflies take part in the spring and autumn migration every year, transferring hundreds of tonnes of biomass and nutrients. The aim of this thesis is to review an existing knowledge on the migration of hoverflies in context of their ecology and evolution. In the first part, I discuss the biogeography and diversity of migratory hover flies, methods for studying migration and the application of such methods in hover flies migration. In the following chapters, I focus on the migration of particular species in context of their ecology and evolution, especially on population dynamics, phenology, orientation, and dimorphism in the migratory generation.
