Support for the development of reading literacy in preschool children with different mother language

This bachelor thesis is focused on preschool children with different mother language in Czech kindergartens and its aim was to support the development of reading literacy components, especially vocabulary development and comprehension of spoken word and read text in two preschool children with different mother language from different language families. The theoretical part contains basic information about the education of pupils with different mother language, including their language support and the methodological and teaching materials suitable for language support of children with OMJ in preschool age. Furthermore, the theoretical part is devoted to the definition of reading literacy and its components and to work with the book. The practical part was carried out in the form of action research involving two preschool children with different mother language from different kindergartens in order to support their reading literacy, especially through vocabulary development, comprehension of spoken word and read text and verify which methods have proven to be most suitable for support of the Czech language as a foreign language for children from different language families. This diploma thesis deals with the mediation of the topic of home and its forms to children in kindergarten by the method of working with a book. The aim of this work is to select suitable books that offer different forms of home, whether in traditional or alternative form, and to create methodological material for them that would help children understand that each home is different. Based on this methodological material, verify the lessons by three selected teachers and assess according to the reflection whether this material is suitable as a methodology for the topic. The theoretical part of the thesis summarizes the various forms of home and shows the location of this topic in the Framework Educational Program for Preschool Education. Furthermore, the theoretical part deals with the characteristics of preschool children, mainly in terms of social and emotional development, literature for preschool children and methods of working with the book, which are also used in the practical part. This diploma thesis deals with the topic of career in teaching, which has many specific characteristics compared to the classical concept of career. The thesis focuses on the group of kindergarten teachers who stand at the beginning of the education system as important influencers on the life-long educational journey of each of us. The aim of the thesis is to analyse the view of the kindergarten teacher career by teachers and principals and to look for support from the school management level. The theoretical part deals with three basic areas, which are professional development, professional career and career system. The first chapter shows the connection between the professional development of teachers and their career, it also focuses on its individual components, especially continual education of teachers. The second chapter is devoted to the career itself and compares the theoretical background of the career with its specifics in the teaching career. It looks at the teaching profession in terms of its attractiveness and individual stages of the teachers' career. This thesis deals with analyzing influence of physical experiments on the development of preschool children. It starts with description of research methods, then I present intervention program compiled from physics experiments and this thesis ends with conclusion of results of the research on a group of preschool children. The thesis is accompanied by an annex including description of experiments with methodical notes and instructions. This thesis contains a description of five thematic units - Air, Water, Temperature, Magnetism and Light. These methodical materials are applicable directly to teachers in kindergartens. Development of language competencies of children with different mother language in preschool

The diploma thesis deals with the development of language competencies by children with different mother language in preschool age in a regular kindergarten. The theoretical part of the work is focused on defining the basic terminology and mapping the issues of a child with a different mother language in kindergarten based on the analysis of professional literature. The subject of the empirical part of the work is the diagnosis of individual language levels and individual preparation for entering primary school for a specific child with a different mother language. The empirical part is processed in the form of case studies. The survey was conducted in a selected kindergarten, where the level of language competences of seven children-foreigners of preschool age was evaluated and the results of tests after six months were subsequently compared. The aim of the diploma thesis was to analyze the level of language competencies in children with different mother language, identify their communication difficulties in individual language levels, find suitable methods and procedures for working with these children and evaluate the benefits of regular individual intervention.
