Interpersonal relationships and their projections into the quality of nursing care provision in intensive care units

This thesis deals with interpersonal relationships and their projection into the quality of the provision of nursing care at intensive care units. 3 goals were set for this purpose and 8 hypotheses were subsequently defined and statistically analysed. The above-mentioned goals were achieved by the means of a quantitative research in which the technique of non-standardized questionnaires was applied (valid questionnaires returned: 56.5%). The research sample consisted of 173 intentionally selected respondents from among non-doctoral healthcare workers. The research has shown that positive interpersonal relationships prevail at intensive care units (61.3%). 87.3% of the respondents met their colleagues outside of working hours. Interpersonal troubles occurred among 44.5% of respondents, while interpersonal conflicts were noted among 59.5% of respondents. The occurrence of bullying was noted among 26.6% of respondents. Respondents mostly faced arguing and aggressiveness (22.1%) within the performance of their duties. They also faced offence and humiliation (18.2 %) and slandering (18.2%). The quality of nursing care was defined on the basis of the opinions of the respondents and their ability to cooperate. The proportion of the occurrence of good-quality and poor-quality nursing care does not differ (p = 0.323). The fact that the quality of the nursing care with positive and negative relationships differs (p < 0,001) was a significant finding; negative relationships reduce the quality of nursing care. We consider the issue this research deals with to be topical. The thesis presents an insight into the problems in question and can serve as a basis for further projects. The thesis also points out the importance of the regulation of interpersonal relationships at intensive care units on the basis of empiric data, and urges that interventions positively affecting these relationships be implemented as they can have a desirable impact on the quality of nursing care.

Arming Subsaharan Africa (2011-2020)

Most countries in sub-Saharan Africa lack the capacity to produce arms and military equipment, so they are fully dependent on arms imports. At the same time, the arms trade has a strong political dimension, which is a huge volume beyond the financial trade itself. The aim of this work is to provide a descriptive analysis of the armament of sub-Saharan Africa between 2011 and 2020. This work uses data to define the largest exporters and importers in the region over a period of time and examines the effects of various variables on arms imports and exports to sub-Saharan Africa. Data for analysis were collected from a publicly available databank such as The World Databank or SIPRI. R studio with the assistance of ggplot2 and tidyverse packages was used to analyze and process all data. Thanks to this analysis, we found that, contrary to previously stated hypotheses, Chinese arms imports to sub-Saharan Africa are no longer growing than Russia, and Russia is still the largest arms exporter to the region. Some data suggest that there are correlations between arms imports into the region and war conflicts, which cause the two variables to interact.

Returning Vertebrate Species as a Topic of Environmental Education

The presented thesis deals with the relationship between humans and animals that return to the Czech Republic due to various circumstances, especially national protection, and protection within the European Union. This is a group of animals that have been exterminated from the Czech wilderness for various reasons and upon their return cause damage, arouse fear and cause controversy. The spontaneous return and reintroduction of some vertebrate species is, therefore, considered a controversial topic at present because we are facing reintroduced and returning species more and more frequently. This is why people should ideally be introduced to this topic at primary schools, where the information is presented in a clear and didactic way, rather than later on, for example, in the context of various attitudes-raising campaigns. For this reason, this research was performed at primary schools, grammar schools and secondary vocational schools training future foresters and fishermen, in order to determine what pupils' attitudes towards these returning or reintroduced vertebrate species are and what can influence these attitudes. Bullying in schools through the eyes of school principals

The diploma thesis deals with bullying and conflicts in the school environment, specifically in the environment of kindergartens, primary and secondary schools and how the principals of these schools view bullying. Bullying in the school environment is a frequently discussed phenomenon and a problem that needs to be addressed, hence it was chosen as a current topic for this thesis. The theoretical part describes the knowledge about conflicts and bullying - definitions of conflict and bullying, classification, manifestations and causes, methods of solution and prevention, as well as history. The empirical part deals with in depth interviews with school principals, who answer questions about bullying at their school as part of qualitative research. The possible occurrence of bullying and conflicts, the awareness and experience of school principals, as well as their views on bullying and conflicts in education are identified. Furthermore, the methods of prevention and solutions that the school chooses are found out. The work is based on methodological approaches of grounded theory. Mental load of top management - coping with stress Ing.Mgr.Martin Pospíchal, The Faculty of Arts of Charel University in Prague, 2013 The topic of this thesis is the issue of mental load, respectively mental load in professions that are increasingly exposed to its influence. From a myriad of professions in which people are under intense mental load, this thesis examines the group of top managers, particularly in companies involved in the sale of information technologies. The objective of this thesis is primarily to capture the methods and strategies for coping with stress in this target group. From a methodological perspective, the semi-structured interview and standardized questionnaire research methods were used to identify strategies for coping with stress. The conducted research confirmed with certain degree of probability that intense mental load is an integral part of the performance of the top manager profession. Its impact is assessed as more stressful in comparison with lower job titles, particularly from the perspective of a wider range of active forms of mental load. Non-economic neocolonialism and its conflicts

The aim of the thesis is to analyze specific phenomenon of non-economic neocolonialism and its conflicts. I have done the analysis of two conflicts (in Western Sahara and in Namibia) in context of the Cold War, I was trying to discover the context between dynamics and domestic political development of metropolitan country and the conflict. The next aspect was a regional dimension of the conflicts, that is why I analyzed the influence of neighboring countries and their motivation in the conflicts. The main aspect was an international dimension of the conflicts, that is why I examined the approach of the Soviet Union, the United States of America, the United Nations and the Organization of African Unity to the conflicts. The main research question was: What types of processes and mechanisms have led Namibia to independence, while the Western Sahara was still under foreign control? The next questions were: What led the superpowers to affect the conflicts, which were in the periphery of world competition? How behaved the world organizations during the conflicts? Had any influence in these conflicts? And last: What kind of interest had the neighboring countries in these conflicts?

Growing Role of China in African Security

Chinese economic expansion in Africa is a widely discussed topic, but less academic attention is being paid to the role China plays in African security. Since the late 1990s Chinese activity in Africa had been growing rapidly. Beijing's interests are predominantly economic, mostly represented by market seeking and foreign direct investments, and political, generally perceived as a mutual support in international organizations. The thesis focuses on the traditional principle of non-interference in how Chinese policy towards African security has been evolving together with growing Chinese interests on the continent. The People's Republic of China influences African security matters in four areas: diplomatic involvement, arms deals, support and financing, and military cooperation. By analyzing those areas with a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods, concrete cases have been identified, when China interfered in internal affairs of particular states, thus altering its policy of non- interference towards more pragmatic and case by case based approach.
