Comparative analysis of professional texts
Vizualizace normálového a tečného napětí u lepených spojů
Havránek, Tomáš
This master thesis deal with the glued joint. Teoretical part is focused on basic facts and an advanteges or disadvanteges of this technique. A large part is devoted to theory of gluid process, adhesion, cohesion wettability of glued surfaces. Last part of the theoretical part is searches in the field of tension glued joints and methods to quality assessment of made joint. Experimental testing glued surfaces was made as bend test. During testing was monitored the acoustic emissions. The emissions characterize violation of glued joints. Results of this experiment are evaluated in the end of this thesis.
Bonding of 3D printed PET-G parts
Maxa, Ondřej ; Kupčák, Radim (referee) ; Zemčík, Oskar (advisor)
This bachelor thesis solves the problem of gluing PET-G material, which is used for printing 3D models in 3D printers. The goal is to select and then test the adhesive suitable for bonding the material. The suitability of the recommended adhesives was determined on the basis of standardized tests on experimental blasting equipment. Based on the measurement results, it is suitable to use one-component instant adhesives for gluing PET-G material, the advantage of which is easy handling and quickly achievable handling strength.
The analysis of the techniques used by online translators in comparison with the traditional form of translation
Herejk, Martin ; Ženíšek, Jakub (advisor) ; Lancová, Klára (referee)
The pivotal intention of this thesis is to provide a comprehensive and detailed comparison of the contemporary machine translation and the traditional translation performed by a person. The theoretical part contains two segments which are essential towards establishing the background for the thesis. Firstly, a brief historical context is presented to illustrate how and why the concept of machine translation came to exist. Its relevance, utilization and basic technological principles are presented within the confines of the technology currently available. Secondly, an overview of specific language elements which commonly present an obstacle for translators, be it those possessing human or artificial intelligence, is elaborated and briefly commented upon. The practical part contains a selected body of text which is then translated, firstly by using a specific software and secondly by the author of the thesis. These translations are compared with regard to their accuracy, with references made to the mechanics of machine translation and the source code employed to perform the translation itself, effectively combining linguistic point of view with the technological aspect of the algorithm applied in the translation software. The final part contains a conclusion and summary of obtained results and...
Adhesion of Adhesive Joints for Facade Applications Made of Wood-based Materials
Nečasová, Barbora ; Schmid, Pavel (referee) ; Sedlák,, Petr (referee) ; Kovářová, Barbora (advisor)
The presented dissertation thesis is focused on investigating the adhesive properties of façade cladding made of wood and wood-based materials in combination with flexible adhesion/assembly systems. The systems allow the implementation of effective construction joints and provide a solution with uniform stress distribution which allows the transfer of heavy loads, while simultaneously reducing the weight of the entire structure, which is also often connected with substantial cost reductions. Despite all that, little attention has been paid to this area so far. It is not a solution which is properly embodied in technical standards or in designers´, architects´ and contractors´ awarenesses. The aim of this dissertation is to characterise adhesive properties of selected façade cladding representatives made of wood and wood-based materials for the purposes of bonded joint application in a ventilated façade system. To define adhesion of façade joints, numerical and experimental methods are used, taking also various limit conditions into account. The main conclusion of the dissertation is the characterisation of basic parameters which influence adhesion, effectiveness and quality of façade glued joints. The secondary conclusion is the compilation of a simple methodical procedure for testing and implementing façade glued joints. The dissertation also makes a contribution by extending the current state of knowledge of façade adhesive joints.
Group Conformity and Social Leadership Group
Hotařová, Lucie ; Novotná, Eliška (advisor) ; Syrovátka, Oldřich (referee)
The theoretical part of thesis Group Conformity and Social Leadership Group focused on the topics such as social groups, their typology, social behaviour, group structure, cohesion and conformity. In the practical part is analysed specific social group (The association of historical fencing Vyděděnci). The main goal of this thesis is examining of members conformity, their expectation from formal roles and satisfaction with the leadership group.
On the Interface between Thematic Progressions and Cohesive Ties in Selected Modern Short Stories and a Fairy Tale
Malá, Lucie ; Pípalová, Renata (advisor) ; Matuchová, Klára (referee)
This thesis focuses on the comparison of two short stories by Angela Carter with the fairy tale on which they are based. It attempts to discern to what extent the author preserved the structure of the fairy tale, as viewed from a linguistic point of view, in her short stories. The thesis also suggests an interpretation of the motivation and effect of the divergences of the structure of the short stories from that of the fairy tale. The three texts are analysed from three points of view: thematic progressions, discourse subjects and cohesive chains, and cohesive ties. Attention is payed first to the description of the individual texts, and then to the comparison of the three texts. The comparison puts emphasis on the distinction between the shorts stories on one hand and the fairy tale on the other hand. The comparison shows that the structure of the fairy tale is to a large extent retained in the short stories, as they share characteristics on all the three levels of analysis. The short stories were found to differ from the fairy tale in two main respects, connected to each other, which influence the differences in their structure: the age of the intended reader, and the context and setting of the story.
Slurry surfacing - composition and quality issue
Dostál, Filip ; Koudelka, Tomáš (referee) ; Hýzl, Petr (advisor)
This thesis is focused on slurry surfacing technology, particularly on microsurfacing. The theoretical part describes the differences between the slurry seal and microsurfacing. Ingredients for the production and laying. There are also described their advantages. The practical part presents proposal of mixture and demonstrate that the service of life of the emulsion mixture is closely related to the content of residual binder and composition of microsurface.
Thematic progression in selected journalistic texts
Jirmusová, Petra ; Popelíková, Jiřina (advisor) ; Brůhová, Gabriela (referee)
The thesis studies thematic progression (TP) in selected journalistic texts. Thematic progression, a concept introduced by FrantišekDaneš (1974), draws on the theory of functional sentence perspective (FSP). According to FSP, overwhelming majority of sentences contain the theme and the rheme, i.e. elements carrying the lowest and the highest degree of communicative dynamism (CD), respectively. Despite being the least dynamic element, the theme plays an important role in the organization of the text; its progression throughout the text notably contributes to textual cohesion. The empirical part of the thesis is based on Peter H. Friesʼs (1995) assumption that patterns of thematic progression (TP) do not occur randomly, but different patterns of thematic progressions correlate with different genres. The aim of the thesis is to ascertain which pattern of thematic progression might be specific for the newspaper genre. For this purpose, thematic progression will be observed in two different journals - USA Today and New York Times - concerning the same subject matter; the 2016 US presidential election. For the analytical part, fifty utterances will be extracted from each article. Finally, the articles will be compared in terms of the prevailing pattern of thematic progression. key words: thematic...
Pragmatic Analysis of Vocative in Latin
Ctibor, Michal ; Pultrová, Lucie (advisor) ; Muchnová, Dagmar (referee)
The thesis presents several so far unnoticed functions of (not only) Latin vocative. It argues against previous believes that vocative is used either for addresses, calls and summons, evaluation of addressee and emphasis, or is otherwise only conventional, polite, and thus lacking any real function. Firstly, the author describes vocative from the Speech Act Theory view-point and offers definitions of speech acts call and address. In chapters 3 and 4, he pays attention to vocatives so far considered as lacking function. Relying on the analysis mostly of Cicero's speeches and old Roman comedies, he presents two crucial functions of vocative in non-initial position in a text: 1) vocative as a mean of cohesion which helps to make the organization of the text more transparent and which emphasizes the structure of the text; 2) vocative of assurance/guarantee. In chapter 5, several minor functions of vocative are mentioned (mostly of pragmatic character): triumphal vocative, vocative as a disgrace and vocative as a parody. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
