Evaluation of the benefits of reconstruction at the water treatment plant

The subject of this bachelor thesis is a comparison and evaluation of the condition of the Nudvojovice water treatment plant before and after the reconstruction. The bachelor thesis gradually describes the basic concepts and general principles of treatment of raw water for drinking water. Specifically, the work describes the methods of raw water collection, technologies used in treatment plants, water quality indicators and types of water treatment plants. The work also describes in detail the Nudvojovice water treatment plant before reconstruction, which took place in 2018 and after. The work is mainly focused on the collection of raw water, changes in treatment technology and the quality of raw and treated water. The work also presents other than implemented solutions for drinking water treatment and then compares the status of the original and reconstructed water treatment plant in various respects.
Studie změny jakosti vody na Zbýšovském náhonu

This bachelor thesis is focused on monitoring of water quality in Zbýšovský náhon. In the theoretical part of this thesis the literature review of given topic is processed. The practical part describes the characteristic of stream, area of interest description, methods of work in terrain and in laboratory, results, discussion and proposal of possible measures. Terrain measurements and samplings were carry out continuously from December 2015 to December 2016 for five selected consumption profiles. Indicators of conductivity, dissolved oxygen, pH and temperature of the water were monitored monthly in terrain. Each three month the samplings of water were carry out from streams and then analyzed in laboratory where the determination of total phosphorus, nitrate nitrogen and chemical oxygen demand were determined. Determination of samplings was analyzed in laboratory of Department of Applied and Landscape Ecology. Selected indicators at the beginning of the measurements shows elevated levels and impaired quality of water, but regular monitoring of indicators shows that there was reduction of values and improvement of water quality when the citizens start to connected to canalization. The results were evaluated and compared with CSN 75 7221 and Government Regulation No. 401/2015 Coll.

The aim of the bachelor thesis is to monitor the stream Knínický potok in terms of water quality and nitrogen pollution. The theoretical part contains the basic facts about water and its importance to humans. Further it describes the composition and properties of water, types of water and especially water quality and pollution. There are also defined factors having the most significant impact on water quality along with the relevant le-gislation. The practical part consists of site survey and the monitoring itself, which was carried out monthly from april 2015 to march 2017. The monitoring was based on fieldwork requiring water sampling and measurement of selected parameters such as pH, conductivity, dissolved oxygen and temperature; the other parameters, nitrate and total nitrogen, were determined in the UAKE MENDELU laboratory. In the discussion part the resulsts are compared to ČSN 75 7221 and to the government regulation 401/2015 Sb., in an effective version. As a result of the work, main sources of nitrogen pollution in the stream are determined.
Změny chemizmu odpadních vod ze zpracování cukru v akumulačních nádržích

The diploma thesis deals with a six-month monitoring and changes of water chemism in tanks of sugar factory in Hrušovany nad Jevišovkou. The monitoring was carried out between 17 April 2018 and 3 October 2018 for 3 sedimentation tanks and 1 accumulation tank. It was carried out outside of the main beet campaign. At the time of sampling from the tanks, values of the following quantities were recorded: pH, temperature, conductivity and transparency of the water. In next 24 hours the total amount of nitrogen, the amount of nitrogen in nitrites, nitrates and ammonia, as well as the total amount of phosphorus, the amount of orthophosphates, chemical oxygen demand, biochemical oxygen demand, acid and base neutralisation capacity, the amount of calcium, iron, chlorides, insolubles and chlorophyll a were determined in the laboratory of fisheries and hydrobiology Department at Mendel University based in Brno. The values of the indicators varied according to the season, the amount of the discharged waste floating and washing water and the temperature. The highest values of the pollution in average were determined for the sedimentation tank n. 1, to which more waste water had been launched in 2017 because of the yield sediment. The highest values there were for the indicators as the total amount of nitrogen 307,9 mg/l, the amount of nitrogen in ammonia 117 mg/l, chemical oxygen demand 11600 mg/l, biochemical oxygen demand 8200 mg/l and the amount of insolubles 1510 mg/l. However, the high values for the sedimentation tanks are not a major problem as they are getting lower during the year due to the digester sludge and its sedimentation. Also important fact is, that the water in the sedimentation tanks is being overflowed to the accumulation tank, where it is diluted and may be adjusted if needed. Then it is possible to drain the purified water from the accumulation tank to the river Jevišovka (IDVT 10100035), but parameters of the water need to meet the limits of Government Regulations n. 401/2015 Sb. If the values are higher than those limits (as it was found for the monitoring described in this diploma thesis), there is a baffle built near the draining mechanism of the accumulation tank, so the water may be adjusted there in a smaller amount. However, the sugar factory in Hrušovany nad Jevišovkou has never drained the water from the accumulation tank to the river Jevišovka, because of the fact that 50 cm of the water column evaporates from all 4 tanks each year. The baffle was built just because of preliminary experiments of effective purifying the waste water, that could be drained to the river in the future. The values of the parameters of the water from the accumulation tank were compared with the results gained in 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016 in the same 2 months of sampling. The results of those 5 measurements are also compared to the permissible values stated by the Government Regulations n. 401/2015 Sb.

This bachelor thesis deals with the possibilities of management in the water resources protection zones around the Švihov reservoir. Its aim was to summarize in the first part the documents that influence the management and production orientation of agricultural enterprises. The work describes the risk factors of management, which were depicted in selected farms from the survey. The final part analyzes the possibilities of management, the main problems of management and sets out measures to minimize negative impacts of management.
Změny kvality vody vybraného toku v obci Kojčice

The bachelor thesis focuses on monitoring the changes in water quality of the watercourse flowing through the village of Kojčice during the year. Village does not have a Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). The samples were taken three times during the vegetative season, at nine localities continuously distributed along the watercourse (mainly at fishponds’ inflow and outflow sites). Samples were analysed in the laboratory of the Department of Fisheries and Hydrobiology at Mendel University in Brno. Total nitrogen, total phosphorus, total iron, dichromate chemical oxygen demand, five-day biochemical oxygen demand, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, acid neutralization capacity, chlorides, calcium and chlorophyll a were determined. Dissolved oxygen, conductivity, pH, water temperature and water transparency were measured at the sampling site. The aim was to determine the impact of the season, the municipality and adjacent cultivated land on the changes in water quality of the watercourse and subsequently assess the ability of the self-purification process in the watercourse. The quality of water was significantly affected by potato fruit juice inflow from the field. The obtained data were compared with the ČSN 75 7221 standard for surface water quality classification. Furthermore, it was compared with the Government Order No. 401/2015 Coll., to determine whether they meet the requirements for general water use and for salmon and carp waters.

This diploma thesis deals with the analysis of sources of groundwater and surface water pollution together with the use of the territory. The literary research describes con-cepts, divisions and other important topics related to groundwater and surface water. The practical part deals with water quality in the village Studené (underground and surface water). Results, measurements and draft measures are also presented. The aim is to take water samples from the Nekořský brook and to evaluate them in the university laboratory and to analyze the results of drinking water analyzes. Based on the evaluation of all the information obtained, it is proposed measures to improve the quality of surface water and groundwater (drinking water). The area of interest is located in the village of Studené.

This bachelor´s thesis deals primarily with the quality of water, water pollution and protection zones of wather resources, namely surface water source Polná, which currently serves as a substitute source of drinking water. The work is divided into several parts. The literature review deals with the relevant water-management legislation. Surface water is described marginally. Water quality, pollution and water protection are described in more detail. Further, the area of interest is characterized, especially the natural and economic conditions of the river basin. Another part is devoted to the description of the water source, including the description of the original hygienic protection zones. This is followed by the evaluation of selected indicators of wather quality in the years 2006 – 2016, followed of corrective measures and new protection zones for the water source.

In the framework of the bachelor thesis, a literature review of the impact of agricultural management and other impact of human activity on groundwater quality will be elaborated. The main emphasis will be put on influencing water chemistry. In the bachelor thesis, water samples from wells will be taken twice a year, when the following indicators will be monitored: pH, conductivity, nitrogen, ions (ammoniacal, nitrite and nitrate), phosphates, organic substances, chlorides, calcium and acid neutralization capacity. In conclusion, the results of the monitoring will be compared with the literature data and valid legislative requirement for the quality of surface and drinking water and evaluated.
Analýza zdrojů znečištění v povodí vodního zdroje Skalice nad Svitavou a návrh ochranných opatření z hlediska znečištění dusičnany

This diploma thesis focuses on an analysis of the sources of pollution in the catchment area of the water source in Skalice nad Svitavou, which is used as a supply of drinking water. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the issues related to the given topic, as well as the area of interest and the water source. Field research was conducted in the catchment area of the water source, and samplings spots for monitoring water quality in the watercourse of Úmoří were determined, as the watercourse runs near the water source. Samples were collected every three months and, subsequently, analysed in the laboratory of ÚAKE AF MENDELU. The findings were evaluated according to the valid legislation. The water quality of the water source was also evaluated for the time period of the last five years. On the basis of all of these findings, protective measures were proposed to improve the protection of the water source.
