Critical discourse analysis of #metoo press coverage in Quebec
Glorieux, Charlotte ; Němcová Tejkalová, Alice (advisor) ; Lábová, Sandra (referee)
In 2017, the #metoo movement lead to the denunciations of public and private figures around the world. In the aftermath of the movement's various waves, media coverage of sexual assault gained considerable traction due to the popularity of the movement. In Canada, journalists gave voices to the victims, while exposing the abusers. Quebec stands apart from the rest of Canada, due to its historical and social context. Based on a social construction and critical feminism approach, media coverage in Quebec newspapers at the time of the first #metoo wave in 2017, as well as its successor in 2020 was analysed. This study shows that there was an evolution in the newspaper coverage of the movement between 2017 and 2020. Journalists were dealing with two different types of waves, which reflected in their coverage. Between both time periods, media coverage of the victims' public denunciations led to increased indignation towards rape culture, heightened concern about cancel culture, a need for better education and criticism of the justice system. Keywords metoo, Quebec, ledevoir, lapresse, lejournaldemontreal, metro, rozon, sexualassault, lacroix, rape

Němcová, Alice ; Pech, Milan (advisor) ; Czumalo, Vladimír (referee) ; Rathouská Štroblová, Kateřina (referee)
The problematics of art in public space during the period of normalization on the example of the Prague metro This thesis deals with the problematics of art in public space during the period of normalization on the example of the Prague metro. The premises of metro required formal restrictions on the artworks that were intended to embellish it. For security reasons the artworks were not allowed to be on the platforms, nor in the central access tunnel, and could appear only in the vestibules and public passages or on street level at the exits from stations. On the one hand Prague metro had a clearly political component, emphasizing the friendly relationships with the Soviet Union and the key importance of the involvement of Soviet experts for the existence of modern transport systems in Prague. On the other hand, the same project made it possible to involve artists whose independent work was rejected by the regime. At the beginning of the text, I summarize the history of the Prague metro and the phenomenon of underground transport as such, followed by a section devoted to the influence of the Moscow metro on the Prague environment. The main portion of the thesis is dedicated to the art general, circumstances of the origin of artworks, assessment, financing, and realization of works of art in the...

Construction of new office centers started the process of new development of Karlin. The nature of this process and the direction Karlin is moving , is presented with concrete examples. I note in particular the changes in the structure of newly opened businesses - shops and catering facilities . In the last part of the thesis I mention the typical expression of non-place in Karlin - the underground and its surroundings. The aim is to point out that the conversion of Karlin relates to the production of non- places. Diploma thesis maps functioning, problems and troubles of public transportation in Prague during socialism in years 1948 till 1974. These years represents the beginning of communism in Czechoslovak Republic and year of putting the Prague metro into operation. The aim of the work was to examine this limited period in terms of public transportation, its impact on urban development, how different types of public transportation interacted and complemented each other, what was its impact on passengers alone and , for example, how metro planning during this period affected the operation of busses, troleybusses and trams. We found that despite the fact that the metro was at first just an unnecessary plan, later the entire system of public transportation began to concentrate and change precisely because of its implementation. Key words: Public transportation, trams, buses, metro, city development
