Brno Skyscraper
Belousova, Anastasiia ; Hybská, Bohumila (referee) ; Sedláček, Michal (advisor)
The subject of the master's thesis is the architectural design of a skyscraper in Brno. The work is based on a previously developed studio project from the winter semester, which focused on the design of an urban and transportation concept for the selected area. The selected location is situated in the broader city center on the right bank of the Svratka River in the southern part of the Brno-střed city district in the cadastral area of Štýřice. The boundaries of the area under consideration are defined by the streets Heršpická, Pražákova, and Bidláky, and a railway siding to Ferona. According to the new city master plan, this area is designated for the construction of high-rise buildings. A significant element in the urban design is an axis extending from the Svratka River through the Spielberk Office Center, culminating in the proposed skyscraper. The skyscraper will primarily serve as an office building, including amenities such as restaurants, cafes, and bars. The new facility will also offer commercial spaces, conference and congress venues, a new fitness center, and a media library. Underground parking is part of the design. An interesting feature will be a 90-meter-high footbridge connecting the buildings at a height of 120 m. The rooftop of the skyscraper, accessible to the public, will provide a beautiful view of the city of Brno. The entire structure will be designed in accordance with 21st-century knowledge and complemented by modern energy-saving technologies. The fundamental idea of the project is to propose a building that will reclaim the title of the tallest structure in the Czech Republic for Brno. The aim of the design was to create a high-quality environment for employees and residents of the city of Brno and offer a new panoramic view of the city.

The influence of green roofs on the price of the building
Honusová, Kateřina ; Vaňková, Lucie (referee) ; Krejza, Zdeněk (advisor)
This thesis is focused on the effect of green roofs and their impact on the final cost of a family house. First part of the thesis decribes different types of roofs, with a special emphasis on green roofs (including their types, layers, properties). Second part involves multiple types of pricing (house, roofs) and calculations of volumes of buildings. Final part discusses the prices of green roofs and their share in the price of the whole building. Creation of budgets is one of the most precise pricing strategies in civil engineering. Proper estimation of the budget of green roofs therefore played a vital role in developing results section of this bachelor thesis. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the increase in price caused by this eco friendly contruction.
Sports and Relaxation Centre Za Lužánkami, Brno
Venclík, Ondřej ; Kotek, arch Jakub (referee) ; Odvárka, Antonín (advisor)
The subject of this diploma thesis was to prepare an urban study of a sports center in Brno Za Lužánkami. Before the diploma thesis, we focused on this area in the previous winter semester. The aim of the diploma thesis is to develop an architectural study of the multifunctional sports complex. In the current state of the area around the football stadium and the Boby Center / Cosmopolitan Hotel, there is a lot of paved space, used only for parking. The territory has great potential for revitalizing the territory. Not only its size, but also its proximity to the very center of Brno. The urban problem of the current area is the neglected technical condition of the buildings, the unsatisfactory function of the buildings and the poor connection of the area to the surroundings via Drobného street and Sportovní street. The aim of the work was to design the demolition of the football stadium. Unfortunately, as it has been raining into it for over fifty years and the concrete structures are in an irreparable condition. The main part is therefore dedicated to this part of the new territory, which will be created by the demolition of the football stadium. In the new territory, I chose the construction of divided sports facilities. Each building will specialize in one given sport. The buildings will have entrance areas, sanitary facilities and gyms. The proposal will respect an important axis of vision for the former football stadium from Rybníček street. There was a rich sports history here in Brno, which my parents also experienced. An important aspect of the design is the strong genius loci, which must be worked with sensitively. This area deserves to be revived so that the inhabitants of the whole of Brno can play sports again, as it was a few decades ago on the daily agenda to practice in this green locality.
Brno City Hospital
Lebedev, Ilya ; Hybská, Bohumila (referee) ; Sedláček, Michal (advisor)
The subject of the diploma thesis is the architectural design of the city hospital in Brno. The work is based on a previously developed studio project from the winter semester. The subject of studio project was the design of an urban and transport concept for the selected area. The selected site is located in the wider city center on the right bank of the Svratka river in the westernmost part of the Brno-střed district in the cadastral area of Pisárky. The whole land is owned by the city. It has a markedly sloping terrain with difficult foundation conditions due to the landslide. Although it is close to the river, there is no risk of floods of any kind. The main idea of the design is a connection of the new hospital complex with the existing city structure, Anthropos park and especially the surrounding nature. The chosen shape is inspired and based on the outline of the blue star of life. It is a combination of monoblock and pavilion type, which offers flexibility, facilitates orientation and has the potential for organic growth for future development. The building is conveniently oriented, opening towards the exhibition center and the historic part of the city. From the western and southern part it is surrounded by forest, from the eastern by tree alley and the river Svratka, from the northern part by Anthropos park. The construction of the hospital should make the site more attractive. The accompanying program will include landscaping, a new café by the retention lake, sports activities, a pavilion for medicine and nature, which together with the Anthropos pavilion will complement the educational activities in the area. The aim of the design was to create a quality environment for patients and staff in a unique location on the waterfront and to provide maximum connection with the surrounding nature.
Annen Gate
Illéš, Ján ; Eichlerová, Eva (referee) ; Kopáčik, Gabriel (advisor)
A multifunctional city block is designed for the currently empty place in Brno, on the corner of Pekarská and Anenská streets. The urban, architectural and material-spatial solution tries to respect the scale and cultural-historical context of the place. The proposed main function of housing is enlivened by additional functions of administration and trade and services on the ground floor. The corner is an important compositional point and the proposed round and glazed shape of the building will form a visual dominant on the view from Pekarská Street. In the city block, the inner space of the courtyard is created, in which the historical heritage of the retaining wall of the hill on which the church once stood is presented. The passage through the city block is possible in the route of the former street U sv. Anny. The lack of green spaces in the courtyard is compensated by the creation of green roofs for residents and users. The architectural expression of the townhouse tries to follow the traditions of modernism, typical for the city of Brno.
Biodiversity of green roofs
Matoušková, Kateřina ; Sedláček, Ondřej (advisor) ; Šípek, Petr (referee)
Green roofs offer interesting multifunctinaly solutions to many problems at once. In a small area they bring benefits to people and nature. They thermally insulate buildings, improve the local microclimate and reduce the city's heat island efect. Green roofs improve air quality and also help retain water in the landscape. In combination with solar panels and retention tanks, green roofs can contribute to the modern trend of building green - sustainable - buildings. Green roofs can be used for growing food sources and for relaxation as well. Wild plants can spontaneously colonize green roofs and thereby expand their habitats in cities. The plants create habitats for many animals (especially invertebrates) and provide nectar sources to pollinators. Except food habitats, they offer birds habitat for nesting and resting place during their migration. The aim of this thesis was to evaluate the contribution of green roofs to urban biodiversity. At present, howewer, most scientific studies deal with the advantges of green roofs in connection with enviromental protection or the technical side. A small part of the studies examines the biodiversity of green roofs. My goal was to find out which factors influence a biodiversity of green roofs the most and to design an ideal roofs solution with the greatest...

Office Building
Marek, Václav ; Ostrý, Milan (referee) ; Struhala, Karel (advisor)
The thesis describes design of an L-shaped two-storey office building in Chotěboř, which can work with saving energy and be careful to nature. Using renewable materials and new technical equipments. At the end of the design, there should be a building that will be architecturally interesting, energy-efficient and use renewable resources. It is a two-storey building, which is designed for office working and one part of building can be used for teaching science. Main roof on administration part has saddle shape, second roof on part which science centre has flat roof. Both roofs are intensive green roof overgrown with plants. For day illumination, there are design French windows with openings parts. Most of the first floor and the whole second floor belongs to offices and auxiliary staff rooms, toilets, etc. First floor also includes a small training centre with one classroom and necessary facilities (toilet, staff room, etc.). The load-bearing structures (foundations, walls, columns, floor and roof slabs, etc.) are designed from cast-in-place reinforced concrete. Load bearing vertical elements are walls, columns, and posts. Part of the first floor exceeding the layout of the second floor is covered with a flat green roof. Second floor is covered with a saddle green roof. All drawings and 3D rendering were done using ArchiCAD software.
Brno New Train Station and its Public Spaces
Zrníková, Kamila ; Hybská, Bohumila (referee) ; Sedláček, Michal (advisor)
The subject of proposal is a new dominant of the city of Brno. It is a building which will affect panorama of the city, a building which will be important part of a new South district and a new Brno Railway Station. The building will become orientation point in long-distance views as well as in the area. The proposal works with a building which is open and alive thanks to mix-use and public access on different height levels. Greenery forms the corner of the building and creates it’s identity. The base for architectural study became urban concept designed as a pre-diploma project. Important element of the concept is axis which draws the greenery from the river Svratka into the area and connects it with the new station. The Europoint – proposed building – becomes termination of the axis. The building is situated on a unique site which requires unique concept. The motive of the house is greenery and future vision of buildings which enrich surroundings in some ways. The basic volume is triangular and uses area of the site on maximum level with corner towards boulevard. This corner becomes the central element, especially from entry and view from the boulevard. I recreated the corner using vegetation into green and living. The green corner gives a new perspective on creating exposed corners, adds value to the urban area and creates identity of the building. The green motive intertwines with the building from entrance hall up to the bar at the highest floor. The volume of the building is defined by the inside usage and then form follows function. When choosing the functions I took into account needs of the area and took advantage of high-rise building. Commercial areas in the ground floor, administration centre of Czech Railways and conference rooms were created. The administrative use is added by co-working in the middle if the building, the upper part offers flats with view over Brno and in the crown is the highest placed bar in Brno.
