Comparative analysis of poems The Twelve by Alexander Blok and Christ has risen by Andrei Bely
Ivanova, Anna ; Kosáková, Hana (advisor) ; Ulbrechtová, Helena (referee)
This bachelor thesis aims to compare poems 'The Twelve' by Alexander Blok and 'Christ has risen' by Andrei Bely. These poems share certain similarities: they were both written by the leading Russian symbolist poets, both in 1918, and thus represented a reaction on the current revolutionary events in the country; moreover, they are similar in genre and theme. The thesis further explores those common properties, as well as defines the individual features for each of these poems, based on historical and biographical facts, on the analysis of poetic peculiarities and genre characteristics of these two writings, and on the semantics of their key symbols and imageries.
