Kučerová, Jana ; Červenková, Denisa (advisor) ; Bouma, David (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the approach of children's nurses to Ukrainian war refugee children requiring intensive oncological care. In nursing care, transcultural-multicultural nursing models are used as an ethical principle. In particular, the models of M. Leiningerová, J.N. Gigerová, and R. Davidhizarová created in the 1950s focus on holistic cultural care, health, and disease manifestations of individuals or groups and respect the common features of cultural values, beliefs, and practices. Keywords Ukrainians, migration, war, nursing, nursing model, transcultural-multicultural nursing, communication, human rights, child patient, the charter of children's rights in hospital, human dignity
Mission, calling, service and their place in nursing
JEHLÍKOVÁ, Aneta
This diploma thesis is concerned with defining the terms of mission, calling, service, and searching for connections between them and nursing. In the theoretical part, we try to search for these terms and determine their meanings through historical and current literature. The empirical part of the thesis is based on qualitative research. Semi structured interviews were conducted with six medical high school students of the practical nurse program, with five university students of the general nurse program, with general nurses that were divided into two groups: those who had finished the medical school before 2004, and those who were studying the medical high school as medical assistants. The last groups for interviews were members of the Sisters of Mercy congregation of St. Borromeo. The main aim of the thesis is to find out how terms of mission, calling, and service are imagined by nurses, how these terms manifest themselves in today's nursing, and how actual they are in nursing today. Answers to these research questions arise from experience of general nurses, as well as students, and reflect their views on the research terms of mission, calling, and service. Empirical inquiry reveals that general nurses and students have a good idea of what terms of mission, calling, and service are. Among descriptions of these terms, the answers of the Sisters of Mercy of St. Borromeo are the most differentiated. General nurses divert from the profession as defined by Florence Nightingale, and they still attribute nurses the same virtues as she was imagining. Today, in nursing, the researched terms mission, calling, and service appear at least in the meaning we elaborate on here and have an archaic impression. Instead of these terms, words such as empathy or compassion are being used in today's nursing, and these words are attributed to a flawless general nurse by students and general nurses. General nurses and students agree that the researched terms perish in today's nursing, yet they still perceive that a general nurse should consider her profession as a mission, and all but three informants consider their current or future profession as a mission.
The application of the King´s model in the care of client to the orthopedic department
KREMSOVÁ, Alžběta
My thesis deals with the possibility of applying King?s model to client care at an orthopaedic department. King?s model is focused on interaction between a nurse and a patient. Achievement of harmony in interaction between a nurse and a patient/client creates better conditions for attainment of the care goals and thus saturation of his/her needs. In combination with Gordon?s model better satisfaction of needs and thus improvement of the care at the orthopaedic department would be achieved.

The quantitative research survey was carried out by the questioning method. A questionnaire was applied to collect data. At the ORL departments 100 questionnaires in total were handed out to the nurses, of which 50 were handed in fully completed. The results are presented in graphs. The qualitative research survey was carried out by a questioning method. The nurses had been working with paperwork according to I. King's method for one month. Then an individual in-depth interview took place. The nurses were asked to give their opinion on the paperwork. The results have been processed in tables. The bachelor thesis aimed at finding out the possibilities of the nurses in interaction with a hearing impaired patient. The aim was fulfilled and the following hypotheses have been set. H1- nurses are interested in training in sign language was confirmed. H2- nurses are not interested in using pictograms. was not confirmed. H3- nurses follow the principles in communication with hearing impaired patients was confirmed. The second aim of the bachelor thesis was to study the possibilities of application of I. King's model in taking care for patients with a hearing impairment being hospitalized at ORL departments. The research question was, whether the paperwork according to I. King's model can be applied in taking care for patients with a hearing impairment. This aim was fulfilled. Based on the interviews the following hypothesis was set: the training of nurses influences their ability to apply the paperwork according to I. King's model. The nurses gave a positive evaluation on the application of I. King's model. According to their opinion they get more information about the patient and the communication between the nurse and the patient is improved. The use of the nursing model by V. Henderson in care of a child client
ZEUNEROVÁ, Jana
Contemporary nursing care of children is based on the holistic approach aimed at the satisfaction of needs. Nurses in the majority of health facilities use documentation developed by M. Gordon. The nursing model by Virginia Henderson, however, is actually much better suited to the identification and subsequent satisfaction of children's needs. This model belongs to the category of models of needs and of humanistic models. A child's needs are divided into 14 basic domains in this model.
