Přenášení významu přes pohyb: pomocí handheld vs steadicam pro pohyblivý úhel pohledu v celovečerních filmech
Joseph, Abraham ; GAHUT, Michael (advisor) ; FUXJÄGER, Klaus (referee)
Manifestation
Kulka, Jan ; DAŇHEL, Jan (advisor) ; ČIHÁK, Martin (referee)
This thesis is an attempt to formulate a personal manifesto of a film maker. An attempt to a reflection from a creative, technological, social and historical point of view. An attempt to find a personal answer to a fundamental ontological question: what is film? What is light? What is the nature of the relationship between film maker and the apparatus he uses. All that with a emphasis to practical application. Therefore one chapter is a case study of a special projection aparatus called Archeoscope which is both a result - embodiment - as well as an initiation of some of the thoughts mentioned above.
ND FILTRATION WITH DIGITAL CINEMA CAMERAS
Piňos, Matěj ; ŠEC, Martin (advisor) ; HOJDA, Petr (referee)
This thesis concerns the possibilities of neutral density filters which are used on digital cameras. It is focused on the development of filters, information about technological innovations and solutions. Understanding this issue is an important part of the cinematographer's work, as neutral density filters are the most used filters, especially in the exteriors. The theoretical knowledge is used in the practical part of the thesis focused on camera filter testing.
Aspect ratio of cinematic image
Melka, Kryštof ; SYSEL, Tomáš (advisor) ; MACÁK, Jiří (referee)
This theoretical work concerns the ratio of width and height of the frame of a film image. It aims at analyzing this technical parameter above all as an expressive and storytelling tool of the film language. The study investigates its capability to influence the viewer in the context of historical development, technical aspects, and human visual perception of the world.
The challenges of producing 360° video with VR features
Dvořák, Vojtěch Adalbert ; JEŽEK, Jakub (advisor) ; GUNARATNA, Vidu (referee)
The thesis focuses on description of basic principlesof 360° video creation, which can be projected in a virtual environment using VR headphones or display devices such as smartphones. The text briefly presents the history of large format screening, which is the forerunner of today's screenings. Furthermore, the thesis covers a modern projection of 360° video. It presents the concept of "Equidistant cylindrical projection", which is crucial for this type of projection. The thesis also discusses the viewer's comfort, basic camera design and post-production, including the problem of stitching. There are also some tips that can help the authors in realization process. The thesis furthermore includes short reference to a 360° compact camera that served to test procedures and detect shooting pitfalls for 360° projection. Finally, the text offers reflection of the use of this media in dramatic works such as film.

The evolution of night shooting
Frkal, Tomáš ; MACÁK, Jiří (advisor) ; WEISER, Antonín (referee)
The thesis focuses on the historical development of night shots, which are mainly limited by the technological possibilities. Besides the impact of the digital revolution, the light sensitive cameras and new lightening techniques, it is also a matter of trends. The success of night scenes are determined by the difficult circumstances in the production and the viewers acceptance. Apart from the technological aspects this paper focuses on the different styles of night shots, that have been changing through the decades. The paper starts by describing the physiology of the human eye, continues with the realisation of night shots and finishes with assumptions for the future.
Image structure as an expressive element of motion pictures
Ticháček, David ; JÍCHA, Marek (advisor) ; MYSLÍK, Jiří (referee)
My bachelor thesis deals with the structure of the film image and its effect on the viewer of the audiovisual work. It attempts to present an overall view of the image structure phenomenon. The first part briefly describes the historical milestones that led to the phenomenon of film grain. It further clarifies the essence of the concept of image structure and explores physicochemical grain of film materials. It examines the aesthetic essence of film grain and points out the ways in which human vision perceives grain. It describes methods employing the structure of the picture in cinematographic practice. Through empirical research, it determines the real influence of the grain in the image on the viewer’s perception of the emotional impact of the film and the image itself.
The change of the lighting approach in filmmaking with the arrival of LED technology
Nedvěd, Ondřej ; ŠEC, Martin (advisor) ; MYSLÍK, Jiří (referee)
LED lightning technology is relatively new element in the field of filmmaking. The aim of this thesis is to clarify how did the cinematographers‘ approach towards lighting change with the arrival of LED technology with regard to usability of LED sources in practice. The theoretical part of this thesis is going to analyze what are the technical benefits of LED lights in comparison to traditional light sources. The practical study describes the experience of the cinematographers who are using LED sources in practice. This thesis concludes that LED lights are able to compete with traditional light sources and are even able to exceed them in many ways.
