Self-organization of Czech librarians from the 1990s to the present

(in English): The bachelor thesis deals with the topic of association, interest and self-help activities of Czech librarians and librarians from the 1990s to the present. The aim of the thesis is to map the historical development and activities of selected library associations against the background of milestones that have shaped the current form of contemporary Czech librarianship and the associated transformation of the library profession. Attention is paid not only to the best-known associations directly involved in library reforms, but also to informal groups without an organisational structure, which emerged in support of a particular library project or whose activities significantly influenced both the developments in library circles and the perception of the library profession in the eyes of the public. Through a method of historical analysis of sources and a selection of key activities, the influence of voluntary library organisations on the development and transformation of librarianship, including their usefulness to librarians and information workers themselves, is demonstrated in predefined time periods.
